View Full Version : Multiplay IP MAX Ordering

We've just had it confirmed that BT are only accepting IP MAX orders for new activations at present. The regrade process for going from a standard Home or Office connection to IP MAX isn't coming online until the end of april and even then will be a phased rollout.

The long and the short of this is at present we can only take IP MAX orders for phone lines that do not currently have ADSL.

This is a bit rubbish really and means that for people on existing ADSL connections to only way to migrate to IP MAX is to cancel your current connection, wait for the line to clear and then re-order IP MAX and pay an activation fee. Don't think BT have thought many people would be prepared to do that one.

Another option if you are lucky enough to have two phone lines into your house, is to get the second line activated with IP MAX and then cancel off the other line.

If you wish to place an order for a new IP MAX connection on a line that currently does not have ADSL, then please see the thread @ http://forums.multiplay.co.uk/showthread.php?s=&threadid=39813 for details on pricing and what you need to send us to place your order.

More information as we have it.

Just been told by a friend of mine, that someone in her work office is having their ADSL regraded to ADSL MAX Premium today... and it's in the process of going through?
His ISP is aaisp.net , any reason why it may be different for them? He's from coventry...

Thanks :)

Yep, I'm "the guy from Coventry" and I've been told that the order for my regrade is being placed today, and is costing me £10.

My line status pages show me that the order should be complete on the 5th April.

It seems there is some dispairty between the process being handed out with ISPs. We are an L2TP client of EntaNet (we share their BT Central pipe and have a direct link from their LNS to our racks, where all the routing and RADIUS is carried out by us) and they have an estimate from BT to be able to place bulk regrade orders for IP MAX by the 24th April. BT are also limiting the number of regrades an ISP can submit each day, to prevent them being overloaded (far be it for their vast teams of employees to actually have to do some work :p).

Unfortuantely not much we can do it seems. This rollout really is a shambles on BT's part, although I can't say that will shock many people.

In one small respect, this is a lifesaver for me. :)
Given all the changes going on in my life (I'm not about to start a blog here) it makes more sense for me to stay on standard ADSL until about September when I can afford to MAX up, so it was serendipitous of BT to bodge their rollout.

I'll go to bed now. :)

If there is going to limits on how many you can do a day, is there going to be any kind of "pre-order" list so we get ip-max asap? :p:

Its a shame but tbh i guess it was inevitable, maybe just dont want their network to fall over on one day :/ Bt really are a bunch of retards :(

We can do this now.

You can migrate from another ISP to Multiplay DSL for free and move to MAX at the same time (you just need a MAC code from your current ISP). :)

The issue we have is moving our existing Original ADSL service customers to MAX. :)

Thought id throw a post up here, not sure whats going on with my connection, don't get me wrong its all fine, im an mpuk dsl user. Download speed hasnt changed, I'm not aware of being put on max yet (i hadnt expected to be, i understand the situation) but I now seem to be able to upload at 65 kbps, which is obviously slightly higher than the 25 i'm used to.

You're probably one of the ones who got upgraded to MAX by mistake by Enta, but we're limiting your line down to the correct download speed. Don't think GeeDee rate limited the upstream yet :p

You can now. Request the regrade by emailing to billing@multiplaydsl.net We're progressing the orders manually until we have the tools in place.
