LAN/solo = free, internet = pay. very nice gesture from s2, i love it when small companies can do this, yet giant behemoths (no pun intended) can't
no excuses, i'm expecting a good full server for whatever lan is after the release of this one

The i-series classifies as mini-internet. It's entirely possible it won't work on an i-series network.

gotta wonder how they're going to restrict it. obviously you'll be missing the per-account experience tracking (i guess like BF2's ranks, but without the unlocks, so everything's fair), but do they stop you connecting to an IP? time will tell

The could do it based on the private IP ranges. However the usual thing thing is to limit to class C networks, /24 for you CIDR people. Which means 255 nodes maximum, so stuffed at an I-series.

Maybe they'll only require the full game for their auth servers, so you can still do connect to IP, but if you want to use their lobby/ stat tracking etc is where they'll get you.

While LAN play will be free for non-commercial/personal use, LAN centers or companies wishing to use the game in LAN mode for commercial purposes will need to obtain licensed copies from S2 Games.
Does this effect MPUK?
As technically all the PC's arent owned by MPUK :S

Good good, so MPUK would only have to pay for a liscence if they wanted to run a server for it?

if it does work say at an i-event that would be excellent (and you'd all be made to play it by me ;))
