Don't know if anyone here works for NTL, but any info would be appreciated.
Basically wanting to know when Manchester will receive either the upgrades needed for Cable modem-ing (ex C&W) or when NTL is going to roll out NTLfree?
Otherwise its a 2nd line with BT and ADSL.
Ta in advance

The old C&W networks were of a very similar standard to the original NTL ones. I was led to believe that NTL can already roll out Cable Modems to subscribers, it's just that they don't have the capital to acquire enough equipment at their base stations to provide the service to many customers.
Judging from above article, they may not for some time.
As for 2nd line - why would you do that? Just get ADSL on your first line, you can use ADSL and Analogue voice at the same time ;)
Can discuss further at pub in 10 days.

Afty, a little slow on this one arent ya ?
He needs a second line for the same reason i do... we are currently on C&W and you cant have ADSL on a C&W line..
The current line is cable so he needs a BT line for aDSL.
my bad.
I wish NTL would get off thier big fat asses and cable us up, as for not enough capital, HAVE YOU SEEN MY PHONE BILL FOR THIS MONTH?!?!?! cos im on Dial up without BT Anytime :(

When you NTL it's good but they had to dig up the fecking garden to put the cable in. Oh well - I never go outside and see the garden now anyway...

My house's phone bill from NTL currently stands at around £138 per month. Cable TV is only about £30 of that, so does anyone think NTL is going to cablemodem us up soon?
Nah, we pay a lot already, no economical is it!!!

hmmm phone bill this £15 for anytime £15 for the line with free local.... so that would be £30 then :)
Hey BT may not be great but it is a lot cheaper than using pay per min!

Believe it or not - our local exchange doesnt support Surftime (hmm bo11ocks!) but BT shot themeleves there and we converted all 3 phone lines to NTL.
Then we got cable because the phone lines were too slow :D
BT phone bill Nov '00 was £382 but the old git runs a business from home. Using NTL knocked that down to about £115 AFAIK. BT rip off bastards.
