Several of us at StratLan had talked about the snow conditions at La Plagne.

Thankfully it seems to be getting better now, with heavy snow reported yesterday, and continuing to fall.

Linkage is here (http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/sports/snowsports/resorts/results.shtml?resort=laplagne)

Good news!

Just been listening to Jo Whiley on t'radio, she was skiing last week and it was 'like The Day After Tomorrow' :) Apparently its due to stop on Thursday and 'anyone going skiing next week will have the most perfect weather' :D

Yeah, having had the "pleasure" of boarding in Cham a fortnight ago where they had had almost NO snow all season, only for it to be overcast and snowing (not too heavily) the second half of our visit, I am now very appreciative of why boarders liking zee powdah and disliking slush and packed pistes. Very much more pleasant on powder.

Had a weird moment up the top of the valley on the Sunday though - late afternoon I was coming back down a red to meet my stepdad at the halfway restaurant to head back down a red with him (his first red) all the way under the cablecar. About 300 yards from the restaurant I triple somersaulted and caught the board end-on in snow wrenching my left knee - tears and swearwords abounded, as I thought I'd ruined my leg for the whole season or worse, but after a min or so the pain faded alot and it was just "a bit wonky".

So I trudge to the restaurant, sit down for a few mins and walk back outside into BLIZZARD NUMBER ONE. Visibility of your feet if you were lucky, stupid-ass winds, and the gondola back down closed indefinitely, with us needing to make it back to town for a booked meal sharpish. In addition, one if his toe bindings had snapped in the cold, but we decided to take it easy down the red (I did it earlier in the day and it only had a couple of steep parts, was mostly blue). So off we go, and within a couple hundred yards it's howling faster and visibility is so low Im slipping down mostly to avoid flying off piste, and trying to keep him in sight... we made it down after like 25 mins or so (fairly short run for a "back to town" one!) freezing nastily, and ass-slipping down some parts too steep to board when you can't see your feet. Just as we get back down... the frickin gondola starts up.

Anyways, I miss the final days boarding (and ALL THAT SNOW!) cos my knee is shafted.... but it seems better now, and I will be going back to football weds to try and stress it a bit and confirm it's healed for this weekend.

CANNAE WAIT! Bring on TEH SNOW.
