Just an enquiry, i have nothing but grief from NTL and i'm now going to cancel. My question is what is the score with the free activation from you guys, would it apply to me? i'm guessing not as my line won't allready be activated but its worth asking.
Thanks

Are you DSL or Cable?

As this is a forum for discussion, rather than a sales phone line, your best bet would be to email or phone the office.

since this applies to anyone who wants to move from ntl to any DSL provider i'll fill in the blanks.

you must have a "BT" (or traditional PSTN) phone line to get any form of DSL service from any ISP. if you call BT up and tell them that you hate ntl and all is forgiven they'll reconnect you for free and arrange the cancellation of your ntl bill, and the transfer of your ntl number to the BT line. once that's done you can arrange DSL to be installed on that line.

get the cheapest BT line possible. thats what i did when i moved into my new house.

i was asked if i wanted any other stuff. nope the main reason for getting the line was for ADSL. i make all my calls on my mobile...

I realise this and thats exactly what i've done but i was just trying to get out of the £50 activation fee. I was just checking that they wouldn't waiver the fee as i was coming from nthell, i presumed they wouldn't but as it didnt state anywhere i just asked anyway.
Looks like i will be paying out :(

Oh and i didnt read the info properly, it states "ADSL ISP"..sorry

I don't know if they will waiver the fee or not - but as you're not migrating from DSL - DSL but instead are a new installation and activation, I suspect they will have to pass on the activation charge...

Silly world :)

I did presume that would be the case but it didn't hurt to ask ;)
Thanks all

Hi,

I'm afraid the activation charge will apply. The charge is literally us passing on what BT charge us. If your BT line already has ADSL enabled on it and your current ISP can provide you with a MAC code, BT can arrange the migration between the two ISPs without having to physically connect your line to the ADSL equipment in your local phone exchange. The activation charge doesn't apply for this which is why we can offer free migrations.

If you are not currently on ADSL, then they charge their activation fee to physically connect your line to the service.

Thanks for posting. :)

Thanks, from what i've been reading you have a good service so i would be more than happy to stump up the activation fee, i know you don't get it, pity.
I will be getting in touch as soon as i have my BT line installed :D
