I had my first driving lesson since Christmas on Monday (exams suck :/) and anyway, there's this crossroads in the rown, where, unlike some crossroads, there are only *thinks* 5 sets of lights or something, so half the people have to wait in the middle if they're not going straight on...anyway....I was turning right, and this HUGE lorry is coming down the road to my right, signalling right as well, so I wait for him to turn in till I can go....but what does he do? Kinda sits halfway in the middle, vaguely turning left, but mostly headed straight towards me! One quick getaway later and I'm still alive...but it was kinda scary....I have no idea how he passed, isn't the whole point that you have to pass a test to drive an HGV? *sighs*

i'm having to take another test over here :( another theory and another practical test. Stupid state wont accept my British driving license

Steadders
17th February 2006, 00:34
Are they easier or harder in America? I always got the impression from TV they were easier.

pos
17th February 2006, 00:38
Supposed to be easier, but there are some things that I have to think about. Because my natural reaction is to look over my left shoulder when reversing, not my right... We'll see how I get on when I actually CBA to go down there and actually take the stupid test.

That sucks, especially as driving a manual gearbox is a hell of a lot harder than an auto!
Do many states accept UK licenses?

pos
17th February 2006, 16:13
apparently there are like 5 states that wont accept international licences, Arizona happens to be one of those :( bummer.

Pos from what i've heard it's "drive in a straight line... did you kill anyone? No? well done you passed. The gun is in the glove box, the horns are here, here and here and the whole car is a cupholder. Good luck and drive safe... say - I dont suppose you could drop me off at the Krispy Kreme could you?"

;)

What are those weird junctions they have instead of round-a-bouts? i heard Kev talking about them once when he was driving with exe on his american army camp thing...

pos
25th February 2006, 04:45
4-way stop, I dont like them, its like a free for all

Silk75
25th February 2006, 09:27
The europeans built roundabouts to confuse americans.

It worked!
