Another year, more feature creep. Just been on the phone to try and get a quote for the 10th-12th.
2004: 3 days park, 3 days waterpark included.
2005: 2 days park, 3 days waterpark included.
2006: 2 days park, 2 days waterpark included.
Next year they give you a tent in the car park! Anyhow, the price I was quoted for a 6 person room was:
£725 - That's £121 per person.
As was said in the other thread, they probably won't consider deals and pricing, etc, properly until February.

What has the price been like during that period? Any trend up or down, I can't remember the prices from the last couple years... do you have them?
I would suggest, seeing as about 60 or so of us go and we're putting around 6k into the kitty in up front fees alone, not to mention probably a further thou in food, and double that again in beer, that our business is worth close to ten grand to them each year.
Methinks that should get us 3 days in the park, with a little negotiating.

Afty is right, we have an immense amount of consumer power with 50 of us going
it's worth us ringing up and haggling.

Absolutely. I'd be happy to do this once we have an indication of approximate numbers.
To do so I will need:
Numbers from previous years, dates, total number of attendees.
So that I can do some math and hit them with a clue stick.
Let me know if you want me to.

Only issue with this ^^^ is they use a booking firm to book the rooms. I remember last year getting in arguments with them when they couldnt quote me a consistent price. Every phone call got me a different price, when I questioned it , I got "thats the price on the screen attitude". I say I'll phone back, I do, and get a different price.
I suppose it is worth a try to get a group discount.. :)

Try phoning the park/hotel direct, customer services etc?
While they might not be able to take a booking, when you say there's "x amount of us coming spending x amounts of money, but oh I guess we could go to [another park] instead..."

Indeed, I'm quote happy to phone the hotel direct. I'll speak directly to management, and will mention that with the potential decrease in value we are considering other options like Thorpe Park etc.(could anyone familiar with the "scene" let me know one or two other realistic competitors? center parcs maybe?) and would like to get a special rate for us.
For 60+ guests the hotel SHOULD be willing to put on a special rate like they would for weddings etc.

...but its a FAMILY hotel.
Do they actually want 60 random (mainly) young blokes to descend on the park? I thought that was the very reason that we all book seperately?

Yeah, they don't actually want groups. We got mucho dirty looks when we invaded the bar in 2004, thats for sure...

That was the first time.
But surely some management type isn't stupid and knows we come every year with lots of people and make a bit of mess.
If they do, I think that fact we come when it isn't busy and spend lots of money is the only reason we are still allowed.
Or am I putting too much faith in them?

We won't know until we try. If they don't want to give us a special rate, we can always book individuallalallally?

Doesn't the Tussauds Group own Thorpe Park as well as Alton Towers? If so, don't threaten to go there instead. :p:

When speaking to a manager at the hotel, he probably won't care if the group owns the other option, he will want it at his hotel, however point is taken :)
