View Full Version : Which server/class/race

it seems a pretty universal view that attendees should all have an alt on one server to play at wowlan together. i think we need some concencus on some matters such as:

-which server?
-all horde, all alliance or 50:50 split?
-which race/classes? (presumably a mix is good)
-what target level to be at for wowlan?

i guess it all depends on what sort of play we want to get up to, PvP (competitive or cooperative with others at the lan), PvE, world PvP...

My odd proposal for this would be a PvE server.

The reason i'm saying that is so that we can level up more quickly and get to the high level content so that we may have proper high level raids.

not having been on a normal/PvE server, you can still flag yourself for pvp, can't you?

yes you can switch on and off pvp.

my preference would be.

server thats new, and one that no one already has any characters on to avoid money loaning issues.

mix of alliance and horde to allows some 20-29 WSG action.
target lvl for lan would be lvl 25
a mix of characters on each faction.

helpfull if someone keeps a log or spreadsheet of whos doing what? character and faction side wise.

I've not played on a PvE server, does it basically just involve, if you feel like PVPing, flagging up and wandering round trying to find someone from the other faction with their flag up?

Tbh, I've not found that PvP really detracts from levelling, the only place it becomes a problem for questing, for alliance anyway, is in Southshore. And if it's going to be on a newish server with a low pop then there's unlikely to be many major PvPing going on.

I agree with LozB on everything else :)

PvE means, yeah you wonder round and no one can gank you if you don't want them to.

Of course PvP exists in mandatory areas (WSG, AB etc.)

I'd rather we were all 50+ for the LAN so we can some hot MC action with everyone in the same room.

I think a normal server would be the way to go. As I understand it on Normal servers you can flag yourself as PVP where as on RP servers you can't.

Arathor might be a good server to aim for cause its at medium population.

Horde or Alliance tho?

For fast lvl'ing horde would be the best idea cause the modrity of use know most of the horde quests.

I'd be happy going as either a priest or druid (as I've not played these before)

-all horde, all alliance or 50:50 split?
all horde or 50:50

-which race/classes? (presumably a mix is good)
shaman or Mage

-what target level to be at for wowlan?

new pvp and rp-pvp servers:
http://forums-en.wow-europe.com/thread.aspx?fn=wow-general-en&t=794553&p=1&tmp=1#post794553

might do a NE druid, as that's a class/race i haven't done yet

dont forget

+ theres the arena in strangle thorn vale, where as soon as leap onto the middle you enter PVP mode, its designed as an area specifically for scrapping PVP style. theres also regular treasure drops in there to fight over on a daily basis.

you can flag yourself onRP servers, game mechanics wise they run identical to PvE, just people are meant to role play more, my main is on a RP server and it doen't work

/me waits for migration to a PvE server

Hmmm im tempted on either a warrior/pally/mage............. my main is a 'lock tho so would be nice to try something other than cloth armour and that sort of class weapons =)

Also I vote for a PvP server as PvP will make it much more fun at a LAN!!! My main is on a PvE and now im at a decent level its frustrating.

I suggest starting on Twisting Nether realm?? According to wow-europe.com its a new PvP realm with v. low population.

Also with WoWLAN being in 5 months (or was that just hearsay) you could hit lvl 50 easy.

Whatcha say

Also another thought on PvP realms...... if we went for PvP and had a rough split both factions could all meet up for mass fights in random zones and group up and go on a slaughtering rampage etc. =)
