Newtownards FTW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Most of those exchanges are in Northern Ireland... seems odd. Bangor is like 5 miles from me..... but according to this my home town (Newtownards) should be available...

Tell me more about this ADSL max, and how I sign up to get it. I am already on MPDSL, but maxed at 1mb.

Geedee you get me a decent connection and I will have your children... or maybe just lots of beer at the next lan.

Come talk to me on IRC {BA} Red Plague -- We should be able to get you on the trial. :)

im on MPUK-ADSL but maxed out at 2mb. using the phone number checker it looks like i cant get more than 2mb? anyone?

GeeDee
16th January 2006, 18:48
Unless you're connected to one of the trial exchanges listed above then you will not be able to get anything higher than a 2Mb service at present.

:)

ok nearest one is probably 75miles away so i guess nope.

Geedee trying to track u down on irc, but I dont use it enough to be able to catch you when u are about.

I am definately interested in this, if the price is right. Can you email me the details to the same address as before (red AT badacid DOT net)?

Thanks

leigh-on-sea exchange :(

Is this a list of all exchanges that support it or do most now support it and this is the list so far mpuk is working to trial in

GeeDee
17th January 2006, 08:19
No, that's the list of all the trial exchanges for the higher speed service. :)

GeeDee
22nd February 2006, 18:50
The following exchanges have been added to the Higher Speed Trials from 15 February 2006, with the exception of Ascot which will been added from 20 February 2006.

Abinger
Airth
Appin
Ascot
Avonbridge
Balmore
Bell
Braco
Cardross
Chorleywood
Dalmellington
Darvel
Drybridge
Dunblane
Fenwick
Galston
Garelochhead
Gargunnock
Harefield
Kilcreggan
Killearn
Kilsyth

If you would like to join the trial and are on one of the listed trial exchanges, e-mail us on adslbeta@multiplay.co.uk .

We would expect the vast majority of UK exchanges to be upgraded to support the higher speeds within the next couple of months, but BT have not provided final dates for most exchanges yet.

Kilcreggan

wtf

that's THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE

I spent a lot of my childhood summers there and it really is a tiny place on the edge of the sea with just a submarine base and a regular visit from a paddle steamer called The Waverly...

that's insane.

the keyword there is SUBMARINE BASE (i know its two)

surely the mod are going to have influnence over what areas get upgraded, especially for the "civilan" side of there opperations (anything non military)

GeeDee

I think the point of trialing the service is that they need to test higher speeds not only on the busy urban exchanges with lots of shorter lines, but also on more rural exchanges perhaps with different backhaul connections and smaller numbers of longer lines - also perhaps on older cabling.

They just want to test a range of different line types. :)

LOL, yes... the MOD are going to use ADSL. I think they'll have something a bit better, maybe something that actually comes with a worthwhile SLA. :)

ADSL can have loads of different SLAs.

It's just that the service levels offered to homes and small offices are generally poo.

GeeDee

That's correct.

You can have BT 'enhanced care' on ADSL circuits (we can provide this) for increased fault resolution times. :)

So BT will take even longer to fix the problem on enhanced care? Sounds about right, even their Total Care is cack :D

GeeDee

lol, ok I suck. :p:

You KNOW what I meant! :D

Murray-Mint
26th February 2006, 08:39
The small print. You can only report a fault under 'Enhanced Care' if the customer is available 24/7 on-site and the ISP has a 24/7 contact. Otherwise it defaults to Standardcare.

i was checking Out ADSL Max and apprently pretty much every exchange will be enabled (apart from about 200) from the 31/03/06?

If MPUK will do ADSL Max is it poss i could move over to them when my contract ends?
Cause its the higher upload more then anything i want, and i'm not forking out for SDSL.

lol

Cheers, CJ

Yes we will be offering ADSL Max.

The pricing is yet to be confirmed for it.

Yes you can migrate over to Multiplay DSL. You just need to get your MAC code from your existing ISP and we can move you over for free. :)

chrisjenx2001

Hehe, Ok cool.

I take it you will be offering both ADSL Max types, casue i heard there will be two types?

Premium with 800kbps up and standard with 400kbps?

As soon as you sort the prices out let me know.

Im not currently with an ADSL supplyer i have Cable. but im moving to an non cabled area so will have to go with ADSL when we move.

What kinda instalation charges would there be? I know the new house has adsl, i would just have to buy a new line rental and let you guys handle the rest?

Cheers, CJ

question - how do we find out what the fastest ADSL max service our line will take is?

Murray-Mint
18th March 2006, 13:05
ADSL Guide forums tend to point people at: http://212.23.23.177/calc.htm

Bt where quoteing somthing along the line of
"1.5km from exchange will be full speed, then it will decrease from then on outwards 6mb then 4mb, they said about 78% of people could get the 8mbps"

whether those claims are actualy true, i guess only time will tell when more ppl subscribe.

CJ

But what still anoys me slightly off topic is upload speeds. Its blatent that the nation isnt just downloading stuff, yet ISP's in the UK still insist on poor upload speed. I take it theres not much companys can do about this?

if I were to migrate to multiplay dsl after the 31st March(when my exchange is due to be upgraded to max) would I be thrown straight onto a max package??
