Here is our general info e-mail info as a forum thread. If you have any further questions, either post in this forum or e-mail us on adslbeta@multiplay.co.uk and we'll do our best to answer them for you.

Hi,

Thanks for your enquiry regarding the Multiplay ADSL beta.

All our ADSL packages come with the following features as standard:

- Static IP
- No Bandwidth Limits
- No Traffic Shaping (Or 'Traffic Management')
- No Proxies
- Endpoint Direct in MPUK Online Racks
- @multiplaydsl.co.uk E-mail Address
- No frills, just raw gaming power!
- Minimum contract only 1 month!

If you are migrating from an existing ADSL ISP then activation is FREE. For new orders, there is an activation charge of £52.87.

Pricing for the various packages is as follows:

- Home Services (50:1 contention)
-- 512k £22.99 a month
-- 1024k £25.99 a month (You should only end up on 1mb if your line fails to meet the required quality for a 2mb service)
-- 2048k £25.99 a month

- Office Services (20:1 contention)
-- 512k £27.99 a month
-- 1024k £39.99 a month
-- 2048k £49.99 a month

The monthly payment is made on the Multiplay website or over the phone, in much the same way as payment for our online services.

If you wish to go ahead with an order, we need the following information:

- The phone number for the BT line you wish to use ADSL on.
- The address to which the line is installed (as it appears on your BT bill)
- Your MAC code from your existing provider if you are migrating (You need to contact your existing ISP to get this)
- Your Multiplay website username
- Your choice of package

You can send this information in an e-mail to adslbeta@multiplay.co.uk and we will process your order. Activation usually takes approx 7 days.

Nice!

Do you have plans to offer 8mbit and ADSL2 in the future?

I'm tied into a contract atm but would switch to multiplay if they did these services once my contract is out.

The 8mbit product is only available through ISP's that perform LLU (putting their own equipment into BT exchanges). If your exchange is one of the lucky ones, then you can get UP TO 8mbit with those particular ISP's.

BT are trialling a new ADSL product that offers higher speeds. GeeDee talks about it in THIS THREAD HERE (http://forums.multiplay.co.uk/showthread.php?s=&threadid=38100).

ADSL2? It all depends on BT tbh. Despite what some people say, they still control a lot of the infrastructure to domestic users. If and when BT bring out higher speed producs, you can bet Multiplay won't be far behind offering it. :)

Can anyone sign up for this now? I've been waiting for this for ages now.

I think we're at least 12 months away from BT offering a production ADSL2+ service via IPStream wholesale.

The bulk of their DSLAM estate isn't ADSL2+ capable today, and the backhaul from the exchange to the centre of the network isn't really large enough in many cases to support significant numbers of ADSL2+ users.

Yes, anyone is welcome to join Multiplay DSL now. We're still treating it as a beta service, as certain aspects of the system are not yet automated and being processed by hand but the feedback from existing customers so far has been overwhelmingly good. :)

See the info at the start of this thread for how to get connected. :)

You can add my vote to that as well, it's no frills, but line, connection etc, excellent - 10/10 Multiplay - thanks

Hope it goes well, supporting ADSL was one of the natiest jobs you can have. It involves BT competence, and those two words don't usually go well together. Having understanding customers is fine, but its when you get the ones that don't care if its not your fault and its out of your control, their money goes to you! :<

I've often suggested a ten question trivia quiz on "teh internet" and you need to get all questions correct before you're allowed to sign up!
