Hi guys, 1 more thing in my effort to get spending money together for hols. I have a XFX 7800GT for sale with an Arctic Cooler NV5 Revision 3 fitted for sale.

Only purchased last month for my Media Center, I have finally given up on SLI in my main rig and have installed one of my XFX 7800GTX cards in there instead, so I have this one free to sell.

The Arctic Cooler is the exact model for 7800 series, complete with the thermal memory pads instead of the solid metal for gentler and more even card pressure, the core was fully cleaned with IPA and Arctic Ceramique applied via razor blade, so a precise application :). Handles everything that I have thrown at it but the option of sticking one of my GTX's in the machine instead was a no brainer :D

I will sell this for £200 including delivery. Pretty well the fastest 7800GT you can get, factory overclocked, along with the best cooler on the market (IMO) which is rarer than hen's teeth at the moment.

Cheers,

Nick :)

Well I've been planning to upgrade my mobo so now I have an excuse to.

What's the difference between a GT and GTX then?

I have a 6800GT at the moment, but just looking for something a little better so I can run fear/cod2/hl2 in a higher res with increased prettiness.

does the cooler require another slot?

The 7800GT has quite a bit more horsepower than the 6800GT.

If you are unsure of the differences then I would advise that you have a look at some reviews and they will show you the main differences. To get a second hand GTX you would be looking at most likely £70-80 above the price I am selling this at and that is without the Arctic Cooler either.

Yes it does require 2 slots, but with these card producing as much heat as they do, you would be mad sticking a card right next to the fan on the standard coolers anyway.

Cheers,

Nick :)

payment made you should see it in a few days.

So i guess i need to get an sli mobo for the 2 slots yeh? or does the cooler use a pci slot?

Mr Footlong

It doesn't 'use' a slot, but it blocks one off due to the depth of the cooler. There are lots of boards now with ample space for larger coolers fitted to the graphics cards :).

oki, but i don't need to get an sli-mobo? so it covers a pci slot?sorry i suck ;)

Sorry, been a busy boy today. The easiest way to give you a pointer ;) is to tell me exactly what other cards you would be planning on putting into the machine :).

you will not NEED an sli board for it as itll happily take up the space of one of the pci slots.

disadvantage of sli if you dont need it is that it costs so much more for the mobo and if your never gonna use it then its pointless, but will you still ahve enough pci slots?

adv of getting sli board though, is one obv its sli, but something like the asus a8n (not deluxe the chipset fan breaks all the time) has extra spacing / 1 or 2 1x pci-e ports inbetween the two 16x pci-e ones, this way the cooler wont use up a pci slot, but instead use a pci-e 1x slot

granted at some piont there will be more stuff running on the 1x's but atm there isnt much afaik

bah i just like the heat pipe on the a8n premium lol do whatever suits you best :D
