Hi guys, I now have a brand new XFX Revo64 3 channel 64MB Hardware Accelerated XOR Engine Sata RAID 0/1/3 controller. I bought this last week but changed my mind 2 seconds later and bought a matching Adaptec Sata 6 channel RAID controller to go with the one that I already have since i like to keep things as matched as poss whenever I can.
This one is an actual Netcell SyncRAID 3100 3 channel 64MB Hardware Accelerated XOR Engine Sata RAID 0/1/3 controller, which is then sent to XFX and stuck in a XFX box where they swap the sata cables out for green ones as well, that's it. This one comes with 3 standard Sata cables, a XFX utilities CD and a XFX Sync RAID user manual.
A completely driverless design, you stick it in, enter the manager as it boots and tell it what sort of drive setup you want, the rest is completely transparent to the OS to install after that. You can switch the int13 (BOOTABLE DEVICE) on or off too if you need to for any reason
General info on the design here: http://www.xfxforce.com/web/product/listFeatures.jspa?seriesId=66
All I have done today is take it out of it's packet, check that it picks drives up which it does perfectly and flashed it up to the current recommended BIOS, 1.7.2.1, which it is now on and verified.
If you buy this card and want to use the Storage manager software, the corresponding one for this BIOS is available here: http://www.netcell.com/support/pc_release2005_12_07/SM1714_FW1721.zip
Other OS packages available here: http://www.netcell.com/support_softupdates.html
I will update this with pictures later when I get home.
I will sell this for £65 including delivery, saving over £50 over buying it from here including delivery: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/SATA_RAID.html who are the cheapest provider I have come across of this card - Can't really argue with that now :).
cheers,
Nick :).
