Wolverhampton Racecourse

This is a repeat to the post I have in Northern MPUK Lan Suggested Venues as they want something higher. So why not look into our own??

Well as im from West Midlands I would be going for my area so not to far from me we have :-

http://www.wolverhampton-racecourse.co.uk/defaultrc.aspx

What it has to offer us...

With its unique setting and choice of three banqueting suites accommodating up to 500 guests, together with our creative flair, style and quality menus, we can create an event that will suit your requirements.

But If you read Conference bit there is plenty more room so i dont think you need to stop at 500 :)

Some conference equipment is included in the Day Delegate rate.

Suites 1 - 8 cater for smaller meetings up to 60 theatre style, while the Dunstall Suite and Wulfrun suite provide venues for 100 and 180 respectively theatre style.

The Ringside Suite is ideal for exhibitions with 680 square metres of pillar free space, vehicular access and an adjoining concourse which will increase the area to 1400 square metres.

The suite is ideal for large conferences, seating up to 700 theatre style. There are three giant screens ideal for presentations or for showing video / dvd presentations.

And there are loads of hotels local

Abbey Hotel

And camping:-

Travel doesnt seem hard either

Wolverhampton Racecourse and the Holiday Inn hotel
Wolverhampton Racecourse has excellent access to the M6 and M54 motorway networks and to rail services situated in Wolverhampton City Centre less than 2 miles from the racecourse.
By road
Located north of the city centre, off the A449 dueal carriageway. Follow the brown tourist signs to Dunstall Park.
From north: Exit junction 12 of the M6 onto A5 west, joining the A449 South.
From south: Exit junction 10a of the M6 joining M54 to junction 2, following A449 South.
By rail
There are frequent services to and from major towns and cities at Wolverhampton Railway station, which is situated less than 2 miles from the racecourse.
By air
Birmingham International Airport is approximately 25 miles from Wolverhampton.
Wolverhampton Business Airport at Halfpenny Green near Bobbington offers some local services.

So over all this would be great place to hold an event ...

midlands is 1.5 hours ish from newbury ....hardly worth it when the I series is so well established using the newbury site.

(I notice this is a thread inspired by the northern venues thread, i would like to point out that that thread is looking at a possible north venue for a multiplay run event but not an iseries, more a slan sized event at first i would have thought. Mainly due to the same reasons, the I series is so well setup at newbury it would be foolish imo to compete against it)

'The Midlands' is a *big* place. I live in the East Midlands and work in the West - some people wouldn't distinguish but it takes me an hour and a half on average to get to work. Newbury is actually quite long way for me to travel, I'd reckon closer to two and a half hours at least.

CLUK is my nearest LAN - It's about an hours drive from home, which makes it accessible for me, but those living in the West Mids wouldn't necessarily consider it 'local' enough to bother with considering its size.

The idea of 'Midlands' LAN of any size gets my vote for sure ! - I'd even consider getting involved in organsing one

I lived in the west > west middlands from birth (west > west meaning not wolverhampton further :P) and i love the place its not built up like cities which I hate.

Wolverhampton would be a loads better place for us to go to theres about 15-20 I know who only wont go to other lans cause there so far away and to lug all there stuff to Nebury would cost to much.

Wolver hampton is an ideal distance from us so my vote is aok

Not surprisingly most people who posted in this thread think that it should be held as close to them as possible, so self centered.

Woogie
12th April 2006, 19:44
i was thinking the same lol people always think it should be held in the place thats next door to them not thinking about everyone else and how they are going to get to it

I live in Wolverhampton....in fact I live just down the main road from the racecourse.....yes please :) but I can see the point's being made about everyone else. Wolverhampton isn't exactly a central position for people to get too.

Other than that the Newbury site is well established and IMO I don't think it would be near as popular. But if it were to go ahead :D
