I have just posted as I like many others this weekend definately have got a bit of a server lag problem. Nothing dire but not up to usual Multiplay standerd.

I do wish Multiplay could drop their BF2 clan and dedicated prices a little as there is a limit to what I can afford to pay for a server I provide for others for free.

BUT there is a balance between service and pricing and TBH I have had servers b4 and have never had so much free support instantly available. ( saying that years ago Barrysworld treated you well but they went)

To be shouting off & quite ' harshly' complaining about Multiplays service suggests to me many that certain folk havnt rented servers before and possibly have nothing to compare with, either that or they are being a little unfair.

I am NOT trying to flame or cause an argument I just think fair do is fair do and the service here is as good as any i have seen.

There are lots of providers and if Multiplay gets to dear or the service lacks I and most others would naf off elsewhere wouldnt we. Trust me if it gets crap i'd be the 1st to go :)

If you or others are seeing lag on the servers please get them to follow the following:

<LimiBot> FAQ #11: I'm getting lag/packet loss to my server, what do I do?
<LimiBot> Download WinMTR - http://winmtr.sourceforge.net/winmtr_bin.zip
<LimiBot> Set the host as your server's IP address, continue to play with this running the in background for at least 20minutes.
<LimiBot> Then e-mail us at clanservers@multiplay.co.uk with the results. We will aim to have your request processed on the next working day.

Note: We have had reports that changes to some ISP's DSL system specifically Pipex and their traffic shaping is having a marked impact on gamers experiences. This is not limited to Multiplay but a general problem for all games connectivity. If you suspect this is the issue don't sit back and take poor service, contact your provider for a resolution. If this is not possible consider moving and don't forget Multiplay now offer a DSL service :)

Just to backup what Killing is saying regarding changes to Pipex's setup. I can confirm as manager of Pipex's own gaming isp (Wireplay), that there have been some serious issues with packet loss and latency recently to both our own servers and mpuk's. If you are a Pipex customer, please get in touch with customer service asap and provide them with your WinMTR results so they can resolve any further issues quickley.

I can add that plusnet were / are also suffering from these issues, their ellacoya traffic monitoring switches inspect packets, all packets are given a "signature" and dpeending on what priority that "signature" has been given, that's what tier the packet is put in.

They had the problem that most gaming packets weren't being flagged up with the gaming signature, so they were being given low priority.

As far as I know, pipex are using these systems, or an equivalent too.

You are mas - we're just (also) trying to let people know that certain ISPs are changing the way they handle the traffic that leaves their network. This kind of behaviour makes it look as though there are network problems for most people, whereas it's actually their own ISPs creating the issue.

Good to hear you're still happy with the service though. We do carry out pricing reviews regularly but we have always refused to overload our servers or cut corners with the service we provide. Don't forget Multiplay also provide full time support for 12 hours every day as well as the hardware, control software and network to power the game servers. You do after all, get what you pay for. :)

That said, we do honestly take your feedback on board so thanks for letting us know. :)
