Set turbo / nitrous to max. Aero depending on what track you are on. Steering/handling, you probably don't want to play too much with if you are on keyboard as it can make it a bit ... twitchy.

There was one of the sliders that makes your car stick to the road like glue, but that didn't work out too well. It's good to have a bit of slide. I think that might have been handling.

The steering slider is purely for how "quick" the car reacts to your buttons. If you set it to be really quick reacting, you will probably find it causes problems when you're trying start from a standstill. That is when you need to have a good "feel" for your car.
Putting a spoiler on your car doesn't only make it look snazzy, it also has a functional purpose. You *should* find that your handling improves amazingly when you have a spoiler. If you don't have one, your tail end slides all over the place.

I disagree with setting turbo and nitro to max. Set the turbo either a couple of notches left or right. Left makes your best torque/acceleration at middling revs, to the right makes the best acceleration at the high end revs.

Nitro is a tough one and all depends on how you play. I use the nitro as a quick burst to get me started when I've lost a lot of speed and I want a "punch" of acceleration. If you prefer to use nitro to increase your speed at the top end, then shove it more to the right. It lasts longer there, but doesn't have as much "punch".

The best thing to do is go for the ringroad highway through the NW of the map and play with the settings while you're in free mode. You should be able to tell what difference the sliders make to your car performance if you're "at a run".

I tend to go for a quick accelerating, high grip type style. Tend to have everything tweaked one or two around.

As for NOS, i agree with Zenith, its about play style, personally i go a bit more for power on the NOS as i like to use it to jump up gears quickly (im on auto gears)and as Z points out, when you crash into that 1 random pixel, its nice to get started quick :p:
