OK, seeing as lots of people are willing to just swear at MPUK staff, as a note of appreciation of their hard work at i7, I figured that us poor minions can actually help i8 be even better than i7. Suggestions here please.

Is there any way that the Big Screen could be re-located to somewhere -dare I say- dark? It was pretty hard to watch the tourney finals etc.

Can the raffle be arranged with some forethought at i8 please.
The freebie tickets could be given out on entry to the event.
You use the tannoy to give the results, it would save someone's voice. Radical I know!

Quite a lot of people were watching the CS tourney final on the Big Screen when the raffle was actually held (also in the foyer). After the raffle, the showing of the CS final was abandoned in favour of someone using the Big Screen to make a spreadsheet to show the winning numbers. hmmmm....

All comments are read, especially constructive threads are read and reread and printed and discussed and have coffee and jam toast stains on.

This one is slightly dogeared I can assure you.

Good comments, now as to the location of the screen, I agree (personally) but MPUK may well have a reason for its location, and I will let an authorised person comment on it, but i agree, with sunlight on it, it was almost unseeable..
However, I 8 is in a new venue around 200m thataway, so I can't promise it will be better, just in a different location :)

Now then raffle, I personally agree, the timing is not that great, and since all people have arrived by lunctime, why not hold the raffle at 1pm and then post the results on the intranet, those people who want to watch can do, same as before, just a lot earlier..

NB, The reason for the personal opinion is that whilst my views may be held by MPUK, they may not be in accordance with the dark masters themsleves, and therefore don't want to be accused of giving people the wrong idea. all views posted by me are my perosnal opinion, unless I am obviously quoting frm the rule book, or wizzo has forgiven me and i am his personal sex slave again..

Cheers for the responses, most comforting to know that they get the attention they deserve.

I was wondering what happened to the little PC spares shop that was at i6. Any chance of a return at i8? It'd be great if it could stock cool stuff like RAT pads, wheelmice etc... you know, some of the harder-to-get hardcore gamer stuff.

Also, how difficult would it be to sell the games that everyones playing? Maybe a good way to help combat the Warez problem?

WAREZ ??

We were just making sure we had enough backups !! :D

Believe it or not we've been unable to convince a game company to sell games at an i-series event

God knows how quite frankly you'd think we'd have a queue of them begging us to let them in......

Take pics of the event to game and then ask them why they would not do it?

p.s. I mean pics of the room full of gamers not of the boat race! ;)

BGH: Yeah, show them a photo or two of 800+ gamers all playing games and i`m sure the`ll come round..

Nice one Bomb, glad to see someone more interested in improving the i-series instead of needlessly slagging off the staff :(

firstly i'd just like to say a big thankyou to all the staff for making i7 happen, i had a great time, as i'm sure most of us did and your efforts were appreciated >:)

secondly i agree about the screen, it was difficult to see and when the cs tourny final got turned off just to put some raffle ticket numbers up i was a bit miffed...but hey, minor things overall

and thirdly, Monk i'm afraid the cs spoonage award has to go to w0 (Wizzo's Ownage) and our amusing efforts at cs :þ

Can we get a difinitive answer on the spoonage award ?

I mean, we TRIED to play well and were just CRAP so i think we should win just on a severe LACK of technical merit.

I even have the picture all sorted... (i`ll post a link when i get some MPUK webspace Wizzo!)

Somebody put us out of our misery and tell us that we did indeed win the spoonage award.

In our first game we tried and were severly owned, in the second we tried and were again owned. then in the third we scored some points, then the rest of their team arrived and they started playing properly and we were again owned. I'd prefer not to speak of our other matches as they were as bad if not worse than the above :)

Oh and thanks for the birthday present, but should you have the case badge?

It's only bad when you look at the fact half the games we won were when the other team were missing half there people!

Ataraxia

MONK

Scarr
26th April 2001, 12:37
by game we mean each assault, eg we only managed to kill their entire team about 10 times in the 150 odd games we played!!!

:D

Big Giant Head
26th April 2001, 22:51
I take great pleasure in saying i was the captain of the staff team that did that

and it wasn't just a tower, it was a smoking para tower :)

MONK
