i downloaded and installed the new patch from a mirrior on the official site (the official link seems to be capped at 40kb or something crap), now every time i start the game i am greeted with a reminder of the new patch. seeing as it is already updated, shouldn't this message disappear?
another problem i am having is with the ranking. i joined a server where each kill seemed to increase your rank by 1, and after about 5 or so kills I jumped from corporal to staff sergeant. giving me 2 bonus unlocks, which even after quitting the game, previously locked weapons are still available.
now i am a staff sergeant with about 3900 global ranking points... just wtf?

the patch update thing doesnt go away
and ea relaxed the stats for increasing rank in 1.1.1, so your game is just ctahcing up.
enjoy your new weapon unlocks!

I've been getting that tonight too, on just regular BF2 1.12. Account server problems I guess

The requirements for different ranks were decreased in 1.03, guess you haven't played since then? The greeting screen wont go away and the login function is sort of broken. It takes me about 10-15 to log in and if I try to alt+tab whilst logging in BF2 crashes. :(

You can't remove a part of your nickname, you can add stuff though. 6 letters to be exact. If you registered your name as CLAN-NAME you cant remove the clantag.
