figured i'd post this here and let other people do the same:
kaution has asked me to choose my best heroes from the scourge and sentinel, so presented in a top 5 stylee are:
Sentinel:
Furion (prophet)
Rylai Crestfall (crystal maiden)
Rhasta (shadow shaman)
Shandalzare Silkwood (vengeful spirit)
Knight Davion (dragon knight)
Scourge:
Razor (lightning revenant)
Krobelus (death prophet)
Crixalis (sand king)
Nevermore (shadow fiend)
Rotund'jere (necrolyte)
Having looked at that list I realised I had a much harder time picking a top 5 from the Scourge because there's so many more heroes that I'm comfortable with...

Not in on this clanbase thing but said I'd make a list anyway :)
Sentinel:
Shandalzare Silkwood (vengeful spirit))
Sven (rogueknight)
Traxex (drow ranger)
Knight Davion (dragon knight)
Slithice (naga siren)
Scourge:
Anubserran (nerubian weaver)
Viper (netherdrake)

Hmm... formatting CBA.
Sentinel:
1: Tree. (no contest)
2: Sniper
3: Gondar
4: Centaur
5: Lagshaker
Scourge:
1: Spiritbroken.
2: Necrolyte
3: Sand King
4: Skeleton King
5: Razor
Of course, it's all highly dependent on game type, team preferences etc... I can play most heroes. My best team heroes are undoubtedly Skel King and Tree though.

all i'd like to add to sentinal is:
1. Ogre Mage ;)

I'll do mine in a couple of hours in plenty of time for the game.
Can't believe no-one has put KoTL in there... or have they nerfed him in the last patch or two? He just rapes in SOOO much cash, holds an entire lane alone (until level 14 or so when they can gang him at a tower) and sitting next to another cast/nuker is just SICK...

true - the more i think about my own list the more i think that i've picked the heroes that i enjoy playing rather than the heroes that i'm most effective with. in most cases these are the same but there are some support heroes that i don't cum in my pants when i get but still find myself doing a good job with...
it might be worth approaching from the other angle and saying to list the most sick and wrong combo that you can think of, then picking players who are renowned for being harsh with those heroes...

Hmm :-/ The tree's REAL main purposes are:
1: He can turn the ENTIRE TEAM INVISIBLE.
2: He shuts down WW heroes with reasonable ease (they tend to give up at trying to eat all the eyes eventually)
Oh, and for everyone when picking heroes remember that you are NOT allowed a refresher orb, and you can only have 2 sheepsticks on a team. Damn rules.

What the hell
Sentinal
1) Enigma
2) Morphling
3) Enchantress
4) Furion
5) Phantom Lancer
Scourge
1) Sand King
2) Phantom Assasin
3) Balanar
4) Viper
5) Lightning Revnant
I always get surprised that time and time again i dont see the enigma come up, the guy has by far and above the most anoying stun in the game, and an equally large and anoying AOE stun, that unlike tree DOES silence, also stick tree and enigma together, when it goes right its very scary, and nigh on unstopable (note i did say when it goes right)

I'd question two heroes from those lists:
1] Enchantress. It's easy to not die as this bird, but she does very little for the team. She almost never gets kills against decent heroes, and her bonus damage effect is an orb effect that is better replaced in the late game...
2] Phantom Assassin. This bloke is simply awesome late game but against any ranged heroes he is easily nuked out of the game and can barely make any cash early unless he is against a similar V weak early character. In a game where rushes/midgame teamwork are of critical importance I can see the game being ended before he starts to get good. Having said that, once you get treads, black king bar and one or two decent damage items on him he is one of the best chars in the game... if only you could buy items for your team mates. :)

I'd completely dispute the scourge list tbh - only the sand king in that list has a stun.
yes balanar is dangerous at night but during the day he's weak tbh.
yes razor and viper can deal damage very effectively, but viper only has a slow on his ulti and razor has no stun at all, plus if you play razor it's a ticket to get persecuted all game (as discussed earlier)
phnatom assassin again; no stun. very harsh late game, but easy enough to take down if you've got someone like rhasta or sven on the enemy team. or both. both is good...
also, having played as leviathan last night i'd say that he's not that effective a hero against a good team; his only stun is his ulti, and it doesn't last long enough to be really effective IMO.
Sentinel:
Solo: Vengeful spirit
Troll warlord and shadow shaman - wards, 6 second shackles on enemy A, 4 second hex on enemy B and troll rampage anyone?
Enigma and treant protector
Scourge:
Solo: Demon witch
Skeleton king and sand king
Slithereen guard and necrolyte

I couldn't draw up a list of 5 best from each team, stealth assassin just ain't the same as he was back in 5.84b!
On the whole i'd like to think I am rather flexible with heroes, but I do feel I play best with Agility heroes. Strength I'm good with but Int, save for some exceptions like necrolyte, i'm generally superpants with :/
Ranged preferred but melee I can handle fine.
Perhaps it would be best to list some heroes I really don't like/cannot get on with/totally suck with..
Pugna
Magnataur
Magina
Ulfsaar/fuzzy wuzzy bear
Techies
That's all I can think of for now - I suppose it would be best to obtain a hero list and say who I don't like from that :)

It's all about the techies, people fleeing from being blown up and mining up the shops ;)

may i suggest that as soon as practical we do an mpuk game where we do the 5v5 that i suggested in my earlier post? i want to see just how sick those combos actually are and whether one side is more hax than the other (and therefore which side would need work)

The hero's i posted were not the best for teams, simply the best for myself
What i will say about tree/enigma, is it is a VERY dangerous combo, but it also idealy requires 2 players who know how both each other work, how the chars work, and can play the 2 chars well, otherwise its much the same as any pairing of hero's, obviously this is true for most "dangerous pairings" but this is the only one i can speak from experience about
As for weak or strong choices, im muchy much the same with most the hero's so picking my "top 5" was actually slightly difficult as always it depends on the opponents more than anything.
As for practicing stuff in an mpuk game joey, its a bad idea for multiple reasons
1) the players playing might not be the players actually playing more often than not, and certainly not on the same team because that would be "imba moan moan winge winge"
and secondary it doesnt take into account "beat downs" for instance most of us know afty and kaution need to be bitched on early, and it also doesnt take into account playing against players who know apposing hero's inside and out, our quotent of hero's who can really PLAY the tree like quietus can are few and far between

My preferences :)
Sentinel
Squee & Spleen (Goblin Techies)
Gondar (Bounty Hunter)
Rylai Crestfallen (Crystal Maiden)
Rhasta (Shadow Shaman)
Zeus (Lord of Olympia)
Scourge
Antropos (Bane Elemental)
Kel'Thuzad (Lich)
Rotund'jere (Necrolyte)
Lesale Deathbringer (Venomancer)
Medusa (Gorgon)
Prefer ranged / intelligence heroes, dislike strength melee.
Edit: Just found Venomancer :)
