i need assistance with setting up my server for clan wars. Its a ranked server and so far I have been unable to lock it and set it to conquest 16 using that crappy clan forge software. I havesent various emails to the support service at multiplay but so far have yet to receive any help.

I have tried creating two seperate profiles using the clan forge software, one for public settings, one for clan war settings., but all that happens is the software just reboots the server and does bugger all else! I also runa CSS server and have much more access to settings and control over the server.

WHY IS THIS SOFTWARE SO CRAP?

I have tried using bf2rcon for admining the server and its MILES better but it still doesnt allow me to password protect the server,

can anyone help, im desperate for help today?

You need to create a new unranked profile. You can't password protect a Ranked server. As for using Conquest 16, you need to specify the game type for the map itself. Change it in the dropdown on the Maps tab, then select the maps you want to play in 16 player mode, and hit Set. Then save the profile, and it'll all work. Please remember, Clanforge can only do as much as the game will let it :)

an indepth manual would be sweet and i would read it, but the help file tha came with clan forge was about as much use as andrex in my bathroom. Plus im paying good money for a server host that advertised "technical support",so i think im entitled to a little so please dont get funny with me pal.

The problem im getting when creating a new profile is its not accepting my ranking set to 0. In the confirmation box that comes up it has a red/orange squad next to "Setting sv.ranked = 1 was 0 ".

So whats the deal there?

Isnt toilet paper REALLY useful in the bathroom?

RTFM seems to be a good bet imo, I stop by the BF2 section every now and then, and asides a few hiccups, everyone seems to solve the problem, and in all cases so far that ive seen, its them causing the problems, by not using the software properly.

And btw, I'm sure that Boffbowsh's post was clearly supporting your technical needs, and JeRkY's was just underlining the point.

Always nice to see someone using the 'Customer > you' approach, always gives some laughs :D

You need to follow the instructions Boffbowsh gave you they are correct and as mentioned "You can't password protect a Ranked server." you need to create an "unranked" profile.

The full user guide also includes the FAQ:
"How do I create a new profile? / How do I create a Ranked or Unranked Battlefield 2 profile?"

Which I'm sure would help in the case. If you havent already I can recommend reading this guide as it will help you make the most of ClanForge, it can be found here:

I apologise my post wasnt particually usefull.

To aid in clearing things up. As has already been said you must create an "unranked" profile. It isnt just a case of setting sv_ranked to 0.

you need to go to profiles> click create new> select unranked profile> set itup as you desire (tickets/ff on/off etc and the click save.

now goto your server area in clanforge. select the profile and click save/restart. this will then load your unranked profile on your server and bob should be that special friend of your mothers.

yea got it now thanks for the assistance guys. My bad, i hadn't read the guide to it's full extent, completely my fault. Forgive my impatience and unthought out post, my clan had a PCW scheduled at short notice and my clan members wanted the server setting up post-haste.

Thanks again.
