Just in case anyone cares either way...

I got FEAR yesterday after playing the BETA and demos. I think anyone that has played this game on a decent system will admit that it looks stunning with all the lighting and particle effects. The gameplay also seems good from the couple of hour's I've played it, with decent plot / AI etc.

The multiplayer is confusing me though. I have played a few hours and quite enjoyed the intense gameplay, with a lot of satisfying and funny frags, loads of cool weapons and again the stunning visuals. But I noticed a lot of people slagging it off in-game, saying how lame it is.

I know it's early days yet, but what does everone else think?

I completed this last night....

All I can say is OMFG the graphics are good with everything turned up... alot better than any other game out currently imo

The storyline is incredible, absolutely outta this world ;)

THE best game out at the moment, if you havent got it go get it and play it!

I think FEAR is better than Quake4 in many ways.
The story for FEAR is great. The film "Ring" is the only thing I can think of that comes even close.

FEAR graphically knocks spots off Quake4, and both will run nicely with medium settings on a medium spec PC (I've got P4 2.4GHz, 1GB RAM, GF4 Ti4400 128MB).

Out of the two, I felt more "satisfied" with FEAR, but have more fun with Quake4.

I too liked FEAR much better than Q4 both graphically and gameplay. However Q4 was more accessible and I played it more, and I have to say that after the first few levels Q4 gets much better.

The AI in FEAR is superb and makes the game much more challenging than Q4.

What about the multiplayer though?

It's good fun and all, it just seems to be lacking something, like Doom3 Online. It will probably go the same way as well:(

Fantastic SP game. I found the MP wanting, just not innovative enough with the gametypes. A domination mode or some kind of co-op, even if it's not the main game but available as a mode for third party devs would have gone a long way.

Well monolith have said they will be releasing a sdk for fear. So you never know, a Mod community like Half-life had might spring up :)

Yes but if they take too long it'll be too late ;p

Just read this on the tread from the sierra/vu forums that said sdk is "comming soon"

1.02 patch was just released and one of the notes says it pre-patches the game in preparation for the release of the FEAR SDK/mod tools.

Seems its release should be quite soon.... least I hope so :D

The SDK was released last night it seems, seen some mixed reactions to it on the official forums so we will have to wait and see how well it actually works
