Well, if I know anything about photography it's that a black and white picture is arty and therefore good.

However, your horizon is wonky.

Captured a good moment there, i'd recomend you crop it up and align the horizon and you'll be on to a winner.

Now i've noticed this among photography students that it seems the norm that black and white photos should be considered arty, when I don't think this is the case there is so much colour in the world why not embrace it and capture it?

Yeah, was just a snap on the beach, no real thing. Thanks for the feedback.

Because if you put something in black and white it just automatically looks like it's "arty" because it's less like "the real world" and thus more like "art". Also, it gets rid of any really bad colours that happened due to light or whatever without having to fiddle too much :p And finally, it just looks pretty!

it's entirely plausable to create works of surrealisim in colour. Black and white can be a visual cliche.

What's the highest resolution you have? I think it would make a good wallpaper, but 1024 isn't big enough for me.

I think it's more the case that with DIY photography, black and white is a damn sight easier to develop by hand and fiddle with.

Weather has been changable recently, lots of rain :( Ill take the tripod down and see if cant get a better shot sometime :)

shoot in colour, thats why god invented "convert to grayscale" and levels in Photoshop. You never know when you will want a colour version of that image.

Which beach?

Here's a couple I took early morning last week on my walk to work through the docks near home. Second one has been colour boosted.
