Looks good to me. You this years organiser then?

You should make some phone calls and get some prices.

I would also suggest starting with a £50 NOT REFUNDABLE deposit to filter out the "yes I'm definite except"s. Anyone that pays the deposit and doesn't come pays for a round at the pub.

Oh, and past experience has taught us 2 things - 1) a seperate account for the cash is sensible 2) make sure someone else has access to the cash - parent, friend, co-organiser - whoever.

I'm ready with my £50

Ditto. Especially if you get the one with the hot tub :D

I be ready with £50 also.

Unfortunately they only sleep 13, 13, or 15 in each of their chalets.

Will there be a chalet lose this year then?

EDIT: To truly sort the wheat from the chaff, a £100 is needed per person to book the chalet.

I think some dates first are also needed before people will blindly say yes!

Prices from the website are 420 - 500 per week, exclusive of flights, ski-pass etc. There's apparently a rate for 'whole bookings', but still, Tignes was only 235.

I was thinking of WC Sat 25/2 or 4/3 really. Suppose it depends on where we go, but if it is AT or CH then later would be ok.

Please correct me if I am horribly wrong.

Looking at it, it's mostly booked up for the time we need, was just putting the idea out there because it did look pretty cool (I know you guys like table football) but 500 is quite alot to **** on a chalet.

Tigne:
£235 for a col chalet with brekkie
For dinner there it's £10 / day
Train to Bourge + Minibus = £? Can't remember exactly.

Comparable price £300 + Transfers

Rude:
w/c 4th Mar - £469 pp/pw – 11 places Chalet Le Prele

Includes:
- Free return airport transfers from Geneva airport
- half board - breakfast, afternoon tea, 3 course evening meal (6 days/week)
- unlimited local wines
- minibus to take you up to the lift each morning
- return taxi service into Morzine town after dinner until 1am (5 nights/week).

Additional gumph about Chalet Le Prele:
- 3 minute drive form the fast lift to Avoriaz
- 15 minutes walk from the centre of Morzine

Plus the oppulent:
"All bedrooms are ensuite with in-room flat screen TV/DVD/CD/PlayStation2 games consoles. All chalets have FREE wireless internet access, a table football and Dryzone™"

Basically it's not really that much more. Also the dragon lodge was a POS cold damp roach ridden dump. Please remember that.

This is more comparable to the oppulent trip to deux alps. I'm 100% go for rude (plus it's closer to CH)

Anyone else sold?

- 3 minute drive form the fast lift to Avoriaz I'm 100% up for Rude expensive holidays, however one of the most important factors is : how far is the nearest lift?

3 mins in a car at town speeds = 1.5 - 2 miles which is a LONG way to walk... are there nearer lifts?

18/02/06 is right in the middle of the French school holidays, so Nj's wins.

http://fr.franceguide.com/infospratiques/rubrique.asp?idinf=1138

The site says "Please contact us directly for a quotation if you wish to book the whole chalet." -- do we just get it for 469 and have the 13th place unused so it's not so crowded?

Lift pass is EUR179 for 6 days.
Indicative flight price is ~120 quid from London airports to GVA on those dates right now.

I thought that point was worth highlighting.

Afty:
"Chalet Christophe & Chalet Ludvig are just 500m from the fast-lift to Avoriaz (high altitude ski slopes & ski schools) and a 5 minute drive from the centre of Morzine. Chalet Le Prele is a 3 minute drive form the fast lift to Avoriaz and just 15 minutes walk from the centre of Morzine. To save you walking we provide a minibus to take you up to the lift each morning and a free return taxi service into Morzine town after dinner until 1am (5 nights/week). All Chalets are located on the free ski bus route connecting Morzine centre with the Avoriaz lift which runs from 8am to 7:30pm."

Bvark:
My quote is for all but 2 spaces in the chalet. Those 2 spaces are taken up by the overflow a group that's in another chalet so I don't expect we'll see them much.

Regarding availability:

w/c 28th Jan - £469 pp/pw – 2 places chalet Christophe

w/c 4th Feb - £499 pp/pw – 7 places Chalet Le Prele

w/c 18th Feb - £539 pp/pw – 6 places Chalet Christophe, whole Chalet Ludvig & Le Prele

w/c 4th Mar - £469 pp/pw – 11 places Chalet Le Prele

w/c 11th Mar - £469 pp/pw – whole Chalet Le Prele & 6 places Chalet Ludvig

w/c 18th Mar - £469 pp/pw – 8 places Chalet Christophe, whole Chalet Ludvig & Le Prele

w/c 25th March - £429 pp/pw – all chalets available

That's not including a rather crappy £10 pp group discount.

-- edit--

Conclusion:
w/c of 11th Mar is looking favorite, plus we can book the whole chalet Le Prele.

I'll call and get them to hold it now.

Check out skyscanner for easyjet flights to GVA or you can even come to basel. If there's a contingent we can take a minibus of love. Current Flights to Basel that w/e cost £50 return from Liverpool using easyjet.

Cheers for getting this started Nj, that week sounds good, count me Innnsooor.

Negotiate the group discount a bit? Also, sounds like a bleedin' long walk back, but a taxi in the morning is good... so meh.
