We run a BF2 server its busy and fun BUT recently a couple of individuals have been reaching VERY high points constantly

Checked for stat padding (not that)

But it seems to be like an aimbot ie one shot one kill

is there a way to check this? is it new?

are they just **** hot players?

Also in mashed potato city they are in the hill base BEFORE the other players have joined? same in strike at karkand

any ideas?

A few people do load very quickly. And they would spawn quite significantly ahead of other people unless you have a long enough delay.

As for the scores, there are some extremely good players out there who can get scores like that, although there were some reports of punkbuster being ineffective (no suprise there ;)) at detecting some known hacks - I think there is another thread about that here somewhere.

Its probably more likely that they are just **** hot players though.

i would say 8/10 suspected cheats are actually just better players than those suspecting them.

Of course cheats are around, and PB is an ongoing anti cheat system that is designed to develop and cut out newer cheats.

It's a fact that there is a cheat out there with built in coloured skins, radar hack, fog hack and more that can not be detected by PB even after an update. So there is a fair risk that these players are infact cheaters. :(

aye long load times are a pain so we set ours to 60 secs but on round change its a pain too :P

do u stream to psb? thats the most effective way of keeping pb uptodate, and the MBL is always handy. means you dont have to catch a person who has bee caught on about 8 other servers.

probably cheater paranoia. people tend to point the cheater finger quite easily. I've been called a cheater numerous times while I've never actually used cheats. And I'm not a **** hot player completely owning the show either.

also, one shot kills with sniper rifles/granade launchers are pretty common so if that's the case you need not worry.

EDIT: and another thing, an aimbot would never work that well with bf2 as the aim is very random.

An aim bot normally makes the bullets from a gun go to there target first time everytime. but if your PB is upto date, (bareing in mind pb is always slightly behind the cheaters, thats y if u spot one report it to evenbalance) and they ahvnt got THE NEWEST OF NEW NOOB HACKS then they should get caught.

again PSB works along side EVENBALANCE who make PB to help keep ALL games that use PB up to date and share one major ban list of all cheaters caught by PB.

worth doing if you think you have hackers.

so far in 3 months we have caught 14 ppl cheating useing PSB's AMBL tool and keeping ontop of PB (manually updateing every day out of choice). it does work. :D

www.punksbusted.com they even give u an easy to do (as i did it :D ) guid to streaming and updateing your server.

hope this helps anyone

As oxy posted above, we have put a delay on our server so that even if you load and verify quickly, you still have to wait for the map to begin ( people moan about it between the second and third rounds, but tough). Before we did that, I had managed to spawn in a server and turn the ENEMY spawn flag to white, whilst only 2 of their team had even spawned!

Copying my Bf2 folder from my c:\ and whacking it onto my new SATA drive improved my loading and verifying times by 30 seconds!

Yep, I run BF2 on a seperate drive (WD Raptor) to WinXP, and this made a huge difference to load times, thus spawning very quickly at the start of a round post map load.
