I have looked through the FAQs etc but I can't find info on arriving. So lets say I bring my computer and monitor in the car. When I arrive what do I do? Do I que up with the monitor and computer in my hands!? Or do we drop them somewhere first?

What ever you fancy. If you turn up within an hour of when the event starts it's best to just queue with nothing and leave your stuff in the car because the queue is huge.
Then when you've got your pass, go and get your stuff.

Version 1

Leave them in your car...
Queue up and get signed in, collect your security stickers..
Go back to car , stick stickers on Monitor and PC case... take PC case and monitor to your seating ...

Version 2

With your Case an monitor under each arm...Queue up and get signed in, collect your security stickers, stick stickers onto PC and monitor, goto seating..
Struggle wilst doing this..

Version 3 (my version)

Leave them in your car...

Enter Bar at 4pm..(maybe Pub first)

Leave bar at XX time...

Queue up and get signed in, collect your security stickers..

Goto Bar...Leave Bar

Go back to car , stick stickers on Monitor and PC case...

Goto Bar...Leave Bar

take PC case and monitor to your seating ...

and.....

back to Bar...

kk thanks. I think I may just bring a laptop tbh, instead of my desktop. Lot of lugging around with a desktop and if I go by train carrying a monitor and comp round with me aint so great.

Do many people actually bring just laptops?

Some do yes, all depends on whether their laptop can handle the games they want to play of course. I'm toying with the idea of just laptop for i26.. :o

if your on EAS and arriving on thursday and camping. put tent up first, then book in, get stickers, label pc bits and then put them in the building. thats my usual order.. most times a get a beer between the unpacking of pc.

Im just gonna be playing some mohaa, bit of ZH and maybe - if its going on, Age of Empires... Pr0 it up :P

So a lappy should handle all them really. Pretty old, un-demanding games.

Cya'll at i27 :P

If I got the train it would be 5 hours :| From manchester, around 50 quid. Not good, as im generally skint.

Do you qualify for a young persons railcard? ages 16-25

Costs £20 for a year and saves you OMFG so much!

/me strokes mine

Failing that try posting in the lan transport forum for a lift down?

I agree with the railcard. My ticket would usually cost 80quid from Hull station too Newbury.
With the rail card its 50quid. Ive basically paid for the railcard in 1 trip :D

minimum hardware spec. i guess that it has to be a minimum spec to play the games you want to play at the events.

for software have a look at the FAQ's on the i26 page. this will suggest things like firewall, anti-virus, service packs etc..

If you are in full time education then you can get one by opening a student account with HSBC and depositing £10 (whcih can be removed later) this gets you a 4 year YPRC for free

cripes thats easy.

back in my day. banks used to want to see more cash than that to get a railpass. i remember the "black horse" used to make u close all other bank accounts and use them as primary account to get a free railcard.. whats the point of that if u want to have 3 accounts worth of interest free overdrafts in different banks.....

/me fondly remembers the student days...:D
