re:MPUK CPL winnings

Ok, sorry to be the one to have to let you all know, Despite recieving a massive photo oportunity cheque for $1000, we will actually only be recieving £250 (ish).

origionally the prize fund of $3000 was to be split as follows:
1st) $1500 & some hardware
2nd)$1000 & some hardware
3rd)$500

as it worked out:
1st) $2000 no hardware
2nd)$350-500 ish & all hardware*
3rd)$400 ish

*hardware as follows
-2 gigabyte mobo's
-1 6600 (not GT- described when we won as a top of the range card, yet ironicly would struggle a little if you tried it in bf2- the game that was played to win it, with all settings on full.)- and if we got 2 mobo's why didnt we get 2 "top" graphics cards....oh wait they gave the rest away to randoms for dancing,
-2 Random antek cases
-a handfull of usb glow sticks things

If this was all the hardware i dread to think what the origional "some" was

this equates to:
1st) £1200
2nd)£250 ish & £300 from ebay sales of the afore mentiond leftovers from an oem party.
3rd)220 ish
The reason being dignitas we took home all the hardware prizes.

So to summarise sadly we dont get the $1k (£572) & "some" hardware.

but we do get around £550 total after the prize cash and the ebay sales of the random bits.

so yes i think we were short changed a little :(

So the prize fund as advertised did not materialise? That's worth making a bigger deal of tbh. How can you trust an event that doesn't deliver what it promised?

Did you have to pay to attend/enter this competition? I strongly suggest if you did that you check the terms and conditions.

If this was publicised at those prize levels, I imagine it could be construed as false advertising (after all, they are inviting you to treat with that offer) and a threat of action may make the other stuff materialise.

Yup, it was pay-for-entry .. which is annoying, because on the website there was ALSO mention that if you were entering as part of a clan to participate, it did NOT cost anything.

Cant believe what im reading... i aint even recievd any conformation of any prize fund release... plus we get a big cheque for $500 dollars, and lots of witnesses to what 'we should have' won... im gona take this **** further and look at the legal side of things... to start with we actually lost approx. $15 cos we all had to pay to play etc. Altho we did come 3rd out of 3, we should still get what they said we won. Its gettin my bloood boiling...

nope, no small print. When we got there we enquired about this straight away. (and dignitas made sure of it before they flew in frome across europe.

TBH you now have the right to persue court action, id also suggest getting some media involvement at this stage. The Media has ways of forcing their hand :)

on the other hand, might not be a good idea for dignitas to persue any formal complaints vs the CPL, or they could make any future competitions very difficult for all of their team.

On the other hand, MPUK prolly won't see the light of 'big cpl event' (this isnt a dig or nethin) so would be worth investigating some nice way of gettin your cash back

It will take around four months for you to get the money you win from a CPL event.

Even fatal1ty has to wait four months :D

i think if that were the case we still deserve an answer as to exactly what we are getting. Im quite sure we didnt see enough hardware in the prize bundle. Likewise, im still confused over the "heres a cheque for $1000 " but you'll not get any where near that.

Some contact from them would be nice, i have sent numerous emails, called the office a number of times and am still yet to hear any return on any questions.

Luckily its wasnt an official CPL tournament it was put on by Games Frontier and the sponsorship money is from Nvidia.

This was the reply....

Hi Tiny

All winnings from the tournaments will be sorted when the individual
sponsors for each event releases their prize funds. This is usually around
60 days after the event.

All details of winners are recorded and we will inform you as soon as prize
funds are released.

If one team persues this case, then the courts would probably make them pay out for all teams....
