hi, my names marcos,

i am a complete and utter newbie when it comes to online gameplay,

i have a ps2 (chipped of that is of any use) and i'm interested in getting into this whole online experience.

simple questions really - what do i need? is it expensive? where can i get it from?

i'm guessing broadband is needed - which i have.

i'm not so mucha fan of games such as call of duty/sims/final fantasy

more fifa, worms (sometimes) Bond, fighting games like Street-fighter / tekken + platform games like crash bandicoot etc + racing games

is it possible to play these games online?

my mate at uni last year had a ps2 with online kit of somesort but we never got it working = not sure if we didnt know what we were doing or broadband was broken or even if it was the wrong kit!!

well, any guidance would be great,

cheers

seems your more of a consols gamer, in chich case i would say xbox is the way to go, with xbox live.

theres loads of fighting / racing / sports games to play online over xbox live, all you need is an xbox, a live subscription (bout £30 a year) and the games...

pc games are mainly dominated by fps and mmorpgs and as you said you dont like cod / final fantisy.. go xbox!

if you cant afford that however you can get the ps2 online, but its terrible and not worth it.

If u dont have an xbox now I would say is worth waiting for xbox 360 as its getting close now and will kill off the xbox quickly no doubt.

The alternative is PC gaming but thats a whole new price point you can expect to pay 1.5K for decent gaming PC.

You can buy a PC to play modern FPS games etc. for around 300 quid if you know where to shop - or have a friend in the know. You may also need a monitor/TFT for it which might set you back another hundred quid or so.

If you're looking to get into online gaming, you could do alot worse than splurge around 400 quid on a low end gaming PC.

thanks guys - thought the ps2 online might be a bit naf.

i have a pretty standard laptop at the moment, but my dad always tinkers around with computers - he has good equipment being an architect and having to have good graphics cards for software rendering & CAD-work etc.

might have to steal his comp!

cheers again - how much is xbox 360 gonna be?

Yeah the PS2 online bit is very dissapointing.
Not many games to be played either.
