View Full Version : Rcon and Basicrcon?

OK, firstly what are the differences between the two? I'm assuming that those that have the Basicrcon (clan members etc)will only be able to do certain things where as those that have the full rcon (Clan leaders/server admins etc etc) will have the full entitlement?

Also when I try and set them in the modmanager.con file it always returns the Basicrcon to the default mm_rcon.rconBasicPassword "$$basic_password$$" when I try and save the changes, I've tried changing the AdminPassword section on the 'Basic' page to match but it still won't keep the basic password to what I set it to.

Any help or advise?

Cheers in advance

In settings you can only set one PW, I'm talking about the Rcon and BasicRcon - obviously making these two the same pw would defeat the object of it.

yes the main password is set where all other admin passwords are set in clanforge Basic -> Admin password

Yes, I understand that, but I would also like to set the 'BasicRcon' password to give 'regular' clanmembers some power whilst on the server (presumeably to kick people), but when I set the mm_rcon.rconBasicPassword in the 'ModManager.com' file it won't save the change (little orange box instead of green) and it will put that PW (the mm_rcon.rconBasicRcon one) back to the 'empty' defualt one of "$$basic_password$$"

Does that make sense?

I'm trying to get two levels of Rcon useage using ModManager but I can't get the Basic level rcon password to apply.

No change ClanForge -> Settings -> Basic Rcon Password
that will change what "$$basic_password$$" is set to like I said in my first post

Ah ok, so the basic rcon in there is what it says - the basic level for clan members / trustee's where as the admin password on the basic page will be for the higher level?

I'm getting there I think!
lol

Now - what are the main difference's between those that have basic and those that have full, and where can I find a list of the rcon commands needed to kick/ban people etc etc?

Cheers!

BF2CC is a nice little app that uses those passwords. It has all the commands as buttons and the like. You can find that at www.bf2cc.com.

For a list of the in-game console commands, http://www.planetbattlefield.com/bf2/game/commands/ is a fairly exhaustive list.

I'm not 100% sure on the differences between Basic and Normal, but with Basic, i believe you can kick / ban / change map, things like that. The other one will grant that plus everything else. Killing is probably the best person to get an answer from on that.

Hope that helps :)

bf2cc doesnt use the basic password unless it was added in the latest release.

Not using the BF2CC at present, we're trying to get the clan members in the habit of using Rcon the good old fashioned way - via the ingame console!

Thats probably the most reliable way of doing it. Nothing in the middle that could possibly go wrong :)

That link for Planet Battlefield should give you all the console commands. It also includes all the client ones too, which you may or may not find useful. Some need RCON access, some don't.

If you run in to any problems, give us a shout :)

Cool. Note you will need to use the new MM commands for them to work "standard rcon commands" wont work at basic level. Check the mm_rcon docs for details.

Cheers, from what little I've played with it so far it seems that you don't need to prefix the command with anything, for example to login as server admin you simply drop console and type "rcon xxxxxxxx" (xx = rcon pw) and it will log you in and announce that ingame - at least that's what I think I did last night when testing it, can't for the life of me remember where I found that command from though!

In game it would require:
rcon login <password>
using rcon progs u need to pass that in as it wont accept basic passwords
