View Full Version : Custom Maps on Ranked Servers?

Well I though I'd ask before one of our members asks me (I give it only 24 hours).

There are reports of some BF2 ranked servers out there runnning custom maps.

Can we do this on our Multiplay Ranked servers? I'm not asking for FTP access, I know that's a no-no, but maybe it's possible to offer a list of "approved" custom maps via clanforge?

I guess some guidance may be needed from EA, but they are going to be asked this question a lot soon....

As far as I know, custom maps just simply wont work with BF2 servers at all. There is something wrong with the server code and we were waiting on the fix in 1.03.

If some servers have managed to run custom maps, it would be interesting to see how they managed it.

Perhaps you should ask here then,these guys have a server running only custom maps.

I can run the new maps on my unranked Linux server. Would be nice to offer some of the better ones on my multiplay ranked server as well.

I would imagine that EA won't allow custom maps on the Ranked servers at the moment.

They may after they release the 1.03 patch as it has been rumoured that they are going to relax the restrictions quite a bit.

I believe in the current version, custom content is not supported by the dedicated server. In order to use any custom maps, etc, you would need to be running a listen server from in game. This is what EA is working to resolve in the up-coming patch.

Is there anything they're not working to resolve?! I love this game, but c'mon. The game has as many bugs and unfinished parts as BF:V, , but people aren't slamming the game as much as they did to Vietnam.

Well, I noticed there has been a few custom maps released and I was just thinking about finding out how to add them to our server. Oh well...

sorry to revive an old thread the search function dragged it up ;)

but i take it this now possible using clanforge ?..

just that I noticed an entry for maps in the files>upload area and was thinking of uploading some...

Im assuming they go in the default mod area and the server is only unranked when they are in the rotation.

is this correct?..
