Cos Im bored and I enjoy discussing random things about Guild Wars, and cos Neon is looking for a new Ranger build, here's some of the Ranger builds I've used in PvP, both random and team arenas/tombs:

All these builds wear full Druid's armour with a rune of Superior Vigor. Most ranger builds don't really need a secondary class.

R/Mo Quickshot Build

Skills
Quickshot [E]
Read The Wind
Tiger's Fury
Favourable Winds
Judge's Insight
Pin Down
Antidote Signet
Resurrection Signet

Weapons
Zealous Shortbow Of Enchanting
Zealous Flatbow Of Enchanting

Attributes
Marksmanship 12+1+3
Expertise 10+3
Beast Mastery 3+1
Smiting Prayers 7

Playing
This build has the highest DPS of any build of anything I've ever seen, period. It's insane. It does require a few seconds to drop JI and then RtW, but once they drop, you have 12 seconds of spamming Tiger's Fury Quickshots averaging hits of 90 on casters. You can drop FW if you have the time, first. Pindown is just a meta choice, and the two signets are both for handiness and team support. Really, only QS/RtW/JI/TF are neccessary, everything else is just gravy.

R/X Interrupt/Dmg Build

Skills
Hunter's Shot
Penetrating Shot
Punishing Shot [E]
Concussion Shot
Read The Wind
Tiger's Fury
Pin Down
Resurrection Signet

Weapon
Sundering Shortbow of Fortitude
Sundering Flatbow of Marksmanship

Attributes
Marksmanship 12+1+3
Expertise 12+1
Beast Mastery 3+1

Playing
Primarily for causing disruption and damage. Always keep RtW up, and TF as much as poss. Conc Shot shuts down a caster completely for 20s if you time it right. HS/PenShot are good damage, PunShot is yet more interrupt+dmg, Pin Down for runners or to shut down warriors, and res signet is ubiquitous. Choose your targets wisely, shutting down whichever is needed at the time and also doing enough damage to worry them.

R/X Trapper

Skills
Distracting Shot
Marksman's Wager [E]
Pin Down
Barbed Trap
Dust Trap
Flame Trap
Storm Chaser
Troll Unguent

Weapon
Sundering Shortbow Of Fortitude
Sundering Flatbow Of Fortitude

Attributes
Marksmanship 9+1
Wilderness Survival 12+1+3
Expertise 9+1

Playing
Stay away from the nasty opposing team as much as possible. Make sure your team move and take advantage of your traps. When the opposing team is enggaged, you can run in and drop traps at their feet. Survive via Pindown/Stormchaser and/or Troll Unguent. Your monk can be healing other people. When you run out of energy, MW and get it all back. Dis Shot for an extra bit of disruption, along with Pindown for warrior shutdown.

Edit: In the middle of writing this i realised a crippling string would rock for the trapper build. Then I went to go try it out. And realised crippling strings dont exist. Explains why I never used one before. :(

Thats the three I mostly play, or play some variant of.

For 30 seconds, target foe has a 25% chance to miss with attacks. You gain 1-4 Energy for each miss.

For organised PvP, I wouldn't bother going with the hex unless there's more people running hexes, as it'll simply get removed as soon as you cast it. If you're going to run hexes, you need a good few people doing so, which means a build made for it; in general, rangers should be doing pure damage or pure interruption, in my opinion.

<3 rangers!
