Ive read on some forums that a few 'ranked' servers or now running with FF OFF or reduced ,is it possible with multiplay servers to reduce the FF settings to say around 50% and still have the server ranked ?

As far as we are concerned, unless the game actively prevents you from doing it, you can change any of the standard settings in your own BF2 server profile.... including FF.

I was told by a Multiplay staff member if you disable FF the server becomes unranked.
Guess i'll just need to try it and see...

Thats not quite true.
If you change a setting that is not permitted on a ranked server, the server will simply ignore it. It will remain changed in your config file, but the server will carry on with the enforced settings.
It wont stop the server being ranked.
It does however mean that if you want your altered setting to work, you must create yourself and unranked profile and change the settings in that. You will need to create yourself an unranked profile if you want to play ANY clan match.
Please note, you MUST create a whole new profile (base it on the unranked template we have already prepared), if you want an unranked one. Simply setting sv.ranked to 0 will not turn off ranking on your server!

So... basically you can't have FF off on a ranked server?

I didnt say that at all.
Try to turn it off. If it works, it works. If it doesnt, then you know its something that isnt permitted.

Ah right, OK, I kind of thought you'd know what you were talking about. :)
Surely someone at Multiplay (or anyone) knows without me having to go an test it myself?

You can turn off FF or set it to whatever percentage you want, the server still stays ranked.
