OK... clearly we are going -we just need an organiser, some dates and a venue.

Who's stepping up to the plate this year? I would, but financial situation is too fluid to allow me... maybe next year.

So, who da man...?

I do not have the prerequisite certificate showing that I have successfully organised a pissup in a brewery :)

I demand it be in Austria or Switzerland.

If that means I organise it then so be it.

I vote Ischgl or Davos.

I concur

edit - ooh ooh ishgrr looks good:

http://austria.europe-mountains.com/ischgl-hotels.aspx

The slopes are extensive, high, snow sure and ideal for intermediate cruising - it's no secret that this is one of the best ski areas of Austria. And the efficient lift system which has 14 high-speed chair-lifts (including 6-seater and 8-seater) and 3 gondolas is the pride of the resort

afty

I would say "please keep the costs low because Im skint this year" but knowing that I will, if required, sacrifice internal organs to the black market to attend, shag it - just make sure we have good lifts, a good chance of good snow and accomodation befitting.

Try not to make it horrendously expensive though, I've only just finished paying off this years trip...

14th August 2005, 23:09
As much as I would love to come this year, I cannot give a yes or no answer due to the minor factor of Uni :O

I'll just have to play it by ear in the first term and try to get a feel for how strict they are. If I think I can get away with it, i'm sure as hell coming! :D

Rough dates appreciated thx :)

I need it.

Ischgl was pretty good, not massively impressed with the nightlife but in all honestly we didn't try very hard.

Mountain very good once the snow opened it up, lots of variety with a good central meeting location up the top to hook up with folks (in contrast to LDA or Tignes).

Oh no, the master of innuendo returns.

You should have seen his sausage in the snow train on the way home. Rachel was impressed. :)

Oh god. The Sausage..... the saauauuauauauaasage.

Baroness
16th August 2005, 11:17
Some poor French child, playing by the railway line as children do, will find that sausage in the undergrowth and be scarred for life.

Ps. But god damn it, it was impressive. :)

afty
16th August 2005, 11:30
Are you saying that in your bunk, at night, on the train home - you found out that Pingman has a very impressive sausage?

Baroness
16th August 2005, 12:09
If by "impressive" you mean it was cheap, massively girthy and smelt of garlic (let's face it, all enviable qualities), then yes, I admit it. In my bunk, late at night, Pingman's sausage was nothing short of awesome.

Matron.

:p

Aah the memories of that wine box filled night.

And that disco was dubious beyond belief.
And Afty thought he was in the wrong carriage because he came back from the disco, looked in, saw Rachel, and thought she was a bloke.
And that woman asked for an escort to the disco because she said the last time she went in, someone tried to lick her elbow or something.

However as much fun as these memories are, the fact was the train itself was bloody horrible, and I wish to use flying transport for '06 :) Remember - book early, pay less :D

Baroness

Yes, for future reference, campers: I am not a man. :D

My vote still lies with 'tour bus' :D

andyf
16th August 2005, 16:21
I suppose there's every chance we can get an Airport to Resort bus and look forward to re-enacting Ryvita bumbling his way through the english language.

And avalanches. and yellow snow.

afty
16th August 2005, 16:22
But if we have a bus, won't Andy be asking questions like "where are we" and "is it cold outside" all the way there? :)

bvark
16th August 2005, 16:53
I'd suggest that Austria isn't a viable option for the train anyway.

Furthermore, it's not a great place to get scheduled flights to, so I'd suggest we need to be getting our package tour on again.

http://www.inghams.co.uk/scripts/display/static.pl?template=400.html&staticPage=/ski/prices/ski_ISC_prices.html&brochure=ski is a straw man for pricing - around the 500-600 mark for a week including flights (not clear if that includes the ski pass, but I suspect it doesn't), which I think makes Ischgl pretty expensive (at least comparative to France).

Nj, could you see if you can find package holidays for Davos? I think getting someone else to do the packaging is the way forward after recent years :-)

Ischgl is 950 ish miles from Manchester, and is doable in 17 hours.

Convoy anyone?

I thought we talked about filtering the riff-raff?

afty
17th August 2005, 09:27
Just quote it up as £200 over the list price to do that... then charge normal price to regulars, and we have ourselves a free bar all week. ;)

18th August 2005, 17:37
i am interested, although the usual factors of money come into it.
Otherwise yes, dont care where we go, not sure i can remember how to ski but hey i am in :)

K
18th August 2005, 18:23
As usual count me in. Accommodation where the hosts at least tell u their names before you leave would be preferable this time :D

Eva_01
18th August 2005, 18:39
seeing as i am no longer poor this year, i would be well up for it!

I used to ski loads but i havent been in a good 4 years

Pingman

afty
23rd August 2005, 10:54
I've just had confirmation, I'll be skiing from the 15th-21st Feb this year... but I doubt that will conflict with the MPUK trip because it's conveniently the little oiks half term hols :)

Zakalwe
30th August 2005, 09:30
Yep I'm in, provided it's next year.

Iscgl sounds good, apparently I enjoyed it there last time:)

Aardvark
21st September 2005, 16:12
So er, yeah. Do we have an organiser of any sort? I'd offer to do it myself, but it just wouldn't ever get done. And I'm not even kidding...

Pingman
21st September 2005, 16:26
as per discussion in the admin channel her0n has volunteered

id offer to help her but im ****

Drarok

Excellent.

I've not been real skiing in years, only snowdome.

Aardvark
21st September 2005, 16:49
I think that is a lie Ping ;)

her0n
21st September 2005, 16:54
DEFINITE lies.

her0n
21st September 2005, 19:56
In fact you guys should put wagers on whether I actually attend this year.. someone could stand to make a lot of dollah ;D

Still NFI whether I can make it or not.... sigh

Drarok
3rd October 2005, 00:41
Organiser sorted yet? :/

Njoroge
3rd October 2005, 06:22
Psym, (bvark) and I will probably have an intensive session of finding somewhere in the next 10 days or so. Once that's done the rest is easy cause we can fob all of the work off to someone else.

Excellent.

For the record, I ski. But I'm not one of those annoying slow crappy skiers that go across the whole piste side to side, like a granny. Oh no!

"owned, tbh"
