Time for a cleaning of the MPUK Guild Wars guild and some more pimpage.

Looking through the list we have lots of people who arent even playing, or just inactive. Im going to be deleting the following people from the guild in the next few days. Please let me know if you want to stay in the guild, but bear in mind you could at least login :p:

Guild Wars is a fantastic free to play mmorpg. Just £17.99, less than £20 one off payment (link (http://www.play.com/play247.asp?pa=sr&page=title&r=PC&title=586714)) and you can play for free. There is no grinding, no repatative gameplay and overall a great tactical gameplay system for PvE and PvP.

The Guild has our own cape and guildhall. Coupled with this, the game is really starting to blossom, and with the new free Ascended content due to stream soon there is no better time to join the guild and play!

Contact me in game, check our forums (http://forums.multiplay.co.uk/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=191) or come see us in #mpukgw on quakenet.org

And this thread is in General Chat... why?

1) So the people that are in the guild that no longer play can see it
2) To try and get some more people to play
3) To let people know that new content is coming, in case they want to come back to the game

I feel incrediby insulted that this thread should be moved, and hastily tucked away where noone will read it.

The whole idea of this thread is to try and get peoples attention, get them back playing guild wars.

To do that we need to access the new people in the mainstream community hence it SHOULD be in general chat, its general information.

There are more pointless threads in the general chat forum that have not been moved and frankly i think its appauling that someone should just arbitrarily move stuff because they arent interested in it.

At least have the common decency to give us your name and reasons. Yet another fantastic example of how small minded and petty the mpuk community can be.

Im shocked and appauled.

Guild wars forum is for ...... Guild wars posts.

I left you a redirect in General Chat.

Posts should be in the correct forum.

Giles.

okay then.

I'm Dave - rants and raves
magic - rants and raves
bit of a sale - trading post
mathematical viewpoint - rants and raves
silly question but.. - hardware
OLED keyboard - hardware
EVE online - I wonder where that should be but isn't

thats to name a few, go move them as well thank you.

This was a general information thread, deserving to be in general chat.

As neon said, you didn't like the subject matter yourself so you moved it, thanks for that.

Meh, it doesnt matter, i was trying to reach out into the mpuk community to get some people back involved in a game i enjoy playing and enjoyed more when people from the community were involved.

Ill be sure to post the Guild Wars ascended content thread in general chat as well. I was under the impression genereal chat was to talk to the community in general.

Cant help but feel ive been swept under the carpet to keep my quiet.

Im the mpuk guild leader, i want some people involved, cant blame me for trying to drum up some more players.

BF2 gets a LOT more posts on these forums than any other game at the moment, and they're ALL either in Battlefield 2 or Clanservers, I don't see why Guild Wars is any different. GeeDee did the right thing in my opinion. You only think it deserves to be in General Chat cos it's your game, it's no different to the guy that wants the £1000 Prize tourney to be for CS because it's his game. Grow up.

I have to agree, it's a matter of admin preference towards games, battlefield 2 is not a fully maintained online world, inactive players do not matter of battlefield, however inactive players on Guildwars do not have direct contact addresses on the guild list or a point of reference to get the information as to whetever they have quit.

Everybody chill. I understand Neon's point about recruitment being for the general community and belonging in general chat. It seems fair that raising awareness of a game is a general matter, as a lot of people may not read the sub forum if they don't know what the game is. As it would only be the second time the game has been properly pimped in general chat since it's release (IIRC) I don't think that would be a problem if it was done properly. By properly I mean a single thread with screenshots, info, links to the website, mpuk guild briefing, etc. Spamming it frequently with poor details would be way out of order. But anyway, the listing of inactive players certainly belongs in the Guildwars forum. If the players in question don't reply its a fair bet they aren't into it anymore and deleting them won't be a problem. If they come back they can ask for an invite.

Neon, if you'd like to raise awareness then it would be best to do it using a seperate thread from one concerning the activity of guild members. The general MPUK community doesn't care about that. :)

Thank you to GeeDee for keeping a redirect link in general chat, very generous of you.

Valane, there's a thread in the Guildwars forum I made that lists the guild members and their corresponding forum names. Therefore forum PM's are the direct contact address which can be used. :)

Ill be starting the cleaning sometime next week, probably wednesday or something.

Yeah, just to clarify, this is just removing your from the guild list so we can keep things healthy looking. If you rejoin the game you can get reinvited.

We are activly recruiting at the moment, which is why i was looking for players. RK makes a good point, probably trying to do two things in one thread. Oh well, but yes, cleaning coming soon ! :)

This all seems a bit out of proportion to me....who really is bothered by it having been in general chat for a bit more coverage, and would it have hurt anyone to leave it there?

Meh

I can totaly understand how some people really didn't like guild wars (but for some reason still come here and keep posting *cough*boff*cough* ;) ) because it is a bit of a "mmo junior" really (tbh)

I still find it fun, and i can't afford right now a pay per month, so i'm enjoying it.

That's why a lot of people didn't enjoy it for sure - it feels too simple (even though WoW is also a far too oversimplified and far too easy game....). But, the level of strategy and gameplay experience needed to do well in PvP is far from simple. In the end, Guild Wars is all about the PvP. You could buy it for 18 quid just to play the roleplay and enjoy yourself, but as a long term game, it's a PvP game, and until you've gotten to the stage where you do it a lot (and win a lot!), you haven't had the total Guild Wars experience :P

Neon please could you invite Sir Siphos on friday please. Im gonna be busy tommorow and I can only get on briefly on thursday to leave my current guild. Cheers. And for the people who quit guild wars cos they found it boring maybe it was because you were unsociable losers who didnt interact with anyone else apart from NPCs.
