View Full Version : Toyota MR2 For Sale...

I have my old Mark 2 Toyota MR2 just sitting around at the moment waiting for me to transfer my personal plate over to my new one.

Just as a bit of speculation, is there anyone interested in buying it when its ready for sale ?

Specs as follows:

Make: Toyota
Model: MR2 Mark 2 (version 1) UK Spec
Badge: "2.0 GT-i 16"
Enigne: 2 Litre 16v Injection Naturally Apirated (non turbo)
Year: 91 (H)
Colour: White
Miles: 145,000 (approx)
Transmission: Manual
Doors: 2
Seats: 2

Most of the MPUK regulars will have seen it, but I`ll upload some pictures later.

I`m currently looking around the £1200 to £1300 mark for it, but that is subject to negotiation.

There are a few little things wrong with it, as you`d expect from a car this age.

The front bumper has some missing paint as a result of corrosive bird crap. Ive not got it repainted as its a plastic bumper and its not rusting.

The Radio antenna was snapped off by some retarded townies one night when i forgot to put it down. The radio still works well 99% of the time, but has problems in low signal areas.

And the sun-roof has a crack down one side. Its not leaking, and probably wont as the crack is along the length of the rubber seal bit.

Other than that its a solid car. It has given me 4 years of good service and actually seems to have more grunt than the new one i just bought, probably due to the earlier models not being subject to EU emmision crap.

Comments ??

I`ll probably sling it on auto trader at some point, but i thought i`d give you guys first dibbs.

Edit: Lots of pic on my website... http://mr2.bawn.co.uk/

Just a FYI regarding its storage capacity:

At previous lans I have managed to transport the following from portsmouth to newbury:

Me
Cabe (not a small lad)
2 x 17" CRTs
1 Yeong Yang Cube Chassis
1 Standard midi tower case
My big box of misc hardware (keyboard / mouse joystick, power strip and random shiz)
Cabes misc hardware
My sleeping gear
Cabes sleeping gear

Also from a scale point of view.. the boot is capable of easily storing 2 x 4u rackmount servers (minus ears) along with room around them for other random hardware.

So THAT'S how the box I got managed to get to Newbury. :)

Nice car, I'd so buy it if I didn't have to do 100 miles a day - the petrol bill would kill me.

Its pretty economical for a sports car.

Does 25 to 30mpg around town and about 30 to 35mpg for long distance.

It`ll also do at least 145mph still accellerate. (damn those short straights on track day...)

I never said it was "omfg eco car of the century..."

But its not bad for a sporty car, especially one of that age.

Also deisel`s always get more MPG than petrol.

I get about 150 mpg.

On my pushbike after a gallon of redbull or equivalent.

To answer a question posted by culture (that was deleted as part of the flame war that was in the thread...)

The photos of the new car were taken at the dealers site. He had a world of Porsches and BMWs and stuff lying around that i was drooling over.. but I wanted this. :D

(and thats all i could afford :( )

Sounds like an interesting buy, 1400 pounds eh? I'm somewhat interested. That bird crap had me going for a while there though hahaha. I'll think about it.

WhiteKnight
18th August 2005, 22:38
As i said.. the price is negotiable, to a point, but thats the ballpark i`m looking at.

Also... you`d need to collect from Portsmouth.

After further thought, I don't think I'll get it, but thanks anyways...it is a good deal though, you weirdos better get it.

WhiteKnight

WhiteKnight
5th October 2005, 17:37

Halloween_Jack
5th October 2005, 17:46

6th October 2005, 17:43
If you want a newer car, how about a nice mazda? (http://forums.multiplay.co.uk/showthread.php?s=&threadid=35840) :P

Back on topic - WK's MR2 does indeed go zoom and is most pleasing - If I could sell my car for a reasonable price I would most definately consider buying.

Have you tried the owners club??

Mr Footlong
11th October 2005, 08:25
You know this already, but Autotrader is your friend tbh. Within 2 weeks of putting my old beast on there I was inundated with buyers and the guy that bought her flew down from Newcastle to collect! Only about £15 for a 2 week slot on there and takes 5 minutes to do on their website.

Cheers,

Nick :).

Oh yeh, i know... atm i`m still waiting for the number plate transfer to go through, once thats finalised, it`ll be going on autotrader, and MR2-DC forums etc...

I thought i`d let you guys have first dibs tho.

WhiteKnight
14th October 2005, 10:23
Ok, i have the authorisation to transfer the plates now, so the car is almost ready to sell.

I`ll take some better pics this weekend, and then it`ll be going on the usual site for sale..

No one else interested ?

As i said, i`ll consider any reasonable offer.

WhiteKnight
14th October 2005, 13:40
Direct line are pretty ghey when it comes to performance cars.

try admiral or adrian flux.

Seriously, being female your quote might actually be affordable.

Altho you are a student.... so "affordable" has a whole new meaning :D

14th October 2005, 14:19
Tbh I was surprised not even to get an extorionate quote seeing as I have 1 yr NCB and full license :O

Drarok
16th October 2005, 14:11
I have 0 NCB, "full licence" (???) and 9 points.

Quoted £1900 for TPFT on the MR2 !

Guv
16th October 2005, 20:07
Elephant are also worth a try if you're struggling with insurance.

With 1 year NCB I can get a TPFT quote at £760.20 (£855.75 for comprehensive) with direct line.

The comprehensive quote surprises me a lot!
