Found a nice free bit of software that hides the current window at the press of a key (or key combo). Whats more unlike some software it works with games and movies.

So for those of us who play games at work or browse the web, chat on IRC etc etc I recommend u download "Boss Key" from HERE (http://www.vicman.net/soft/bossinst.exe)

Also whats good is that the program used to cost $15 but they are now offering it for free

Be sys-admin, set the policies for users and then ignore them for yourself :)

Thing is, what if you boss is slightly 1337 and does a remote desktop esk thing to see what your doing from his desk. That's what scares me.

VNC / Remote Desk, or just go browse your Hard Drive. Really it's not difficult to find out who is doing what on the network. At work we have network / internet traffic monitoring, software that tells us when someone installs something unauthorised on their machine and generally we can be as big brother about it as we like.
Users tend to treat the PC like it is their own personal one, the internet connection, email like they are at home. If we were to block Ebay there would be uproar (nearly everybody @ work uses it), yet ebay isnt work.
The lesson to learn here is, installing a Boss Key program might work for your immediate boss, but dont think just because you can fool them, you'll fool your IT/IS department. If your boss thinks your not working, but cannot proof it, all he will need to do is get your PC checked out. Big brother is watching you, you are being monitored, not matter how careful you are you will trip up.

Etc :D

They could still have apps running on the machine that tells them when anything is installed.

Indeed :), of course if your boss doesnt mind why bother hiding it?
The other thing (and most obvious) is the computer will go wrong, when it does it will be referred back to the IS/IT department. This usually results in someone examining the machine and finding any illegal software as well as the problem.
Laptop users are the worse one for this. They will go home, install AOL for "personal" internet access then telephone us when they cannot access thier work email (as it's dialing AOL instead of our company).
Really I'm just making people aware, you shouldnt install any software onto your work PC unless you have permission.

If you have access - that's permission if you ask me! ;)

This bosskey aint for coving up your tracks is for easily hiding your activity, and at the end of the day how many of you do browse these forums or chat in irc at work when you should be doing something else and what would happen if you got caught.

Windows +D dont help when yah boss walks in and asks you to check summit while standing behind yah and can plainly see like MIRC running in the systray or taskbar

Duuuh, change the icon and leave it in the systray!

It's in the options.

So every program ever made as this option does it?

Or survive without IRC for half the day. At work, the Computer Usage policy says we can use the net for anything legal, as long as it does not affect our job.

Your boss knows what mIRC is?

Murray-Mint

Well, he was using it the other day to hang around in #mpukhosting, so I think he does. If I was that obsessed, i'd use telnet. (An approved company application!)

Don't be an idiot. You mentioned mIRC, I gave you a solution.

I made an app that will grab any window(s) you tell it to and hide them in on systray icon: A WinXP Animated network connection icon.

Go me.
