Yeah i read in your news page a month ago that you were developing a new mod for clanforge.
Well were still waiting for it any chance of an update ?
Because to be honest as it stands its Rubbish.
Have you ever used Any of the rpm mods available to admin servers ? they are far superior and so user friendly.
The trouble i have is when i,m in game and i am asked to make room for a clan member to join i have to exit game open clan forge open servers ( Which never ever opens first time ) then select the player etc etc.
We need reserved slots for clan members and an easier console to use than this s#@t.
Your servers are floorless , they are superb they have no lag and are priced well.
Is just a shame that clan forge isnt as good.
C,mon guys get it sorted please.

Just a bystander here, but if you mentioned which game you were talking about, or what "rpm" is, it might help people reading your post to know what you're talking about.

As for reserved slots... I don't know which game you're talking about, but it's up to software developers to include that feature... it's not really feasible for Clanforge to support a feature that doesn't exist in a game

I,m talking about BF2.

And clanforge mention this reserve slot mod in there forums , nothing to do with Game developer.

RPM is an admin mod used on sof ( Soldier of fortune ) and it is brilliant.
It makes admin on the server real easy as the console is included and just drops down with the click of a button listing all player i,d,s names , teams etc etc.

Hope this answers your Q,s

It does. I have read several threads recently about reserved slots on BF2 servers, and this is something that the Game Developers (Dice/EA) must do. Clanforge can only interface with the game server and tell it what to do... if the game does not support Function X then Clanforge cannot tell it to do X. Currently, BF2 does not include a reserved slots feature, so Clanforge cannot support it. There WAS a thread talking about it, but the Clanforge team clearly stated they had talked to EA about it, but had to wait for EA to do something about it.

As for RPM, it sounds like this is inside Soldier of Fortune, or is an extension for SOF? If this is the case, again it is up to the developers of the game to write such functionality. Clanforge cannot change the way Battlefield 2 works, it can only start/stop and monitor servers within the limits set by EA/Dice.

Hope this answers your questions. If the Clanforge team spot this Im sure they will add some information, but if you want a reply your best bet is to send an email via the contact pag.

Thanks for that .

All the admins on our server use this little util now as we find clanforge slow , cumbersome and very sporadic as to when it wants to work.
This new one is very efficient and works every time.
Clanforge developers should take a look and maybe nick a few ideas.

Clanforge is a web-based application. The BF2SM is a windows program. By the very nature of web based apps interfacing with something running in real time (the BF2 server), it's going to be "slow to respond". Clanforge is an added feature of Multiplay UK Clanservers, most other providers give you FTP and SSH and just let you sort yourself out. If you want to do it in game, there's nothing stopppig you there either.
rcon login <password>
rcon exec admin.listplayers
rcon exec admin.kickplayer 5

That's how BF2 works, nothign to do with Clanforge at all. As Afty said, we don't make the game server code, we just run it

Naturally as a mpuk staff member you will defend clanforge.

I ask you i have just clicked the "live control" button 27 times to try and access my server to see who,s on it.
Guess how many times it worked ? ............. 0 , zero , none , zilch ,not once, lol nice bit of kit you reckon ?

Slow to respond lmao ......

Well I can honestly say I've never had that happen to me, and that it definately shouldn't happen. Perhaps you'd like to give us the exact steps taken to reproduce the problem so we can investigate it with you and resolve your issue

-=[SF]=-Ghost
14th August 2005, 18:44
Yeah easy mate.

step 1 ..open clanforge.
step 2 .. click on server.
step 3 .. check box for server.
step 4 .. click live control box.
step 5 .. go put kettle on.
Step 6 ..curse the damn thing and start back at steps 1-4 until you get fed up.

Account is MH2896

Try it

When its not so busy, have a go at stopping / starting your server and have a go then.

LiveControl is timing out, which basically means that it doesn't get a response from the RCON. This is a known problem with the server code and we are waiting on the patch.

If that doesn't work, come back and we will take a closer look.

Yes, the problem here is the standard BF2 rcon problem, which is unfortunately out of our control. After a while, the rcon port simply stops responding. If you restart the server, does this resolve the issue? I would restart it myself but there's 30 people on it at the moment. That is the cause of the issue though, unfortunately it's a bug in the server code which, as I'm sure you can understand, we have no control over

EDIT: Beat me to it, Tom :p:

stop yah bitching ffs

clanforge is a awesome bit of programming .. if you could do better i would like to see it..

BF2RA is for BF2 only funnily enough clanforge is server management for all the servers and games MPUK have.

dont winge about a tiny problem which isnt mpuks fault.
other server providers would kill to have the people who coded this.

o for the record i dont work for MPUK so u cant say its just staff who will defend it

Argh, pet hate. Such a pointless statement.

He's paid for it, he can complain about it if he doesn't like it.

Just as a side note this week I fixed the rcon module for BF2, yes something that DICE / EA should have done, but I gave up waiting and fixed it myself.
If anyone has a "not responding / timeout" please post as there may be other issues.

N.B. If you havent restarted your server since wednesday you will need to do so to pick up this update.

Well im thinking Ghost is only wanting to use it for BF2.... Im sure it is a awesome bit of programming but that means jack if your trying to admin your server but cant because you unable access live control fast enough...We are also users who are switching to BF2RA until something better is available....

There should be no problems with speed in LiveControl.

If you are experiencing slow performance check your browser settings and try clearing you cache. All the pages in LC for BF2 are small and hence very quick to process.

If you are having the rcon bug just restart ur server and that will fix it as I mentioned above.

Honesty Stop getting involved if you have nothing consructive to say bitch!!
You first say stop bitching then your saying your the one who suggested bf2ra , like the guy says when you pay for something that doesnt do its job naturally your going to be pissed about it.
The two responses from mpuk staff are acceptable and have been very imformative.
Then you stick your oar in !!

As Steve (Killing) has already said, once the server has been restarted, the RCON problem shouldn't come back as he's managed to fix the problem.

However, the BF2CC support has also been launched this morning, so you can use that too now through ModManager. Your wait is over! :)

The news on the homepage of ClanForge explains how you can add ModManager to your BF2 server.
