Dear Multiplay Admins,

We rent a 32 player server from Multiplay and we are very pleased with the quality and professional services you guys deliver. One feature we really like to use is the battlefield recorder. No problem there, it works like a charm and records all of our games fine.

BUT

our members cannot download the bookmarked files because "the path to the file was not found" says the error on screen after selecting a bookmark and clicking on download button.

SO no problem, we still have our 50 mb webspace at Multiplay, just a matter of setting up the server so that it uses FTP instead of local dir to store the files.

No luck, because we need to have access to the config file for that and it is not accessible.

We know there is a possibility to download the files through clanforge but :

1. That is only accessible by the server admin and he's not there 24/7

2. OTHER server recordings seem to appear there as well, we have often downloaded recordings that are not related to our server or games. Very annoying !

My question now is if

A. it is possible to change the config file to point to our FTP server ?

B. it is possible to change the download URL to the correct location if A. does not work

Thank you very much in advance.

Hi,

1: You can change your config files to anything you want, that is what ClanForge is designed to do. Just look under the Advanced page of the profile editing section.

2: ClanForge access can be extended (by the CL at his / her discretion) to allow different levels of access to other users. The rest of your clan just need to make sure they have their own usernames at www.multiplay.co.uk -- and the CL can then add / remove users access rights in the Account --> Users section of ClanForge.

3: FTP access to the very same files that you can download via the ClanForge web interface is certainly possible. Just point your FTP client to clanforge.multiplay.co.uk -- using the CLs usual Multiplay login details and voila. :)

Hope this helps.

using the CLs usual Multiplay login details and voila.

Use the CLs usual Multiplay login details to our users for FTP client login???
Then we would give them the login and password for an “owner” account of our server.
They would have access to clanforge and have the ability to change everything.
Or am I wrong??

Even if we would use a clan members account and give him “medium” access.
And then use this account for ftp access, it still gives the users a login and password for to many options.

The only way I see it is to program some config file to move all the demo files from the game server to the multiplay web account.
If this is possible, I don’t know.
Because the demo file list behaves very strange and sometimes puts other demo files in our files section.
An other solution is to let the CL manually download the demo files from clanforge and then put them on an FTP directory.
I think, at this moment, that is the best solution.

Or am I wrong about all this?

I assumed this is what you were going to do anyway. Either that or have some kind of script on your website to grab the demo files via FTP.

The reason this is such a hassle is because EA provide no way of allowing the rotate_demo script to work out what server the script is runing from, and hence is not multi-server, single-install aware. We're hoping they'll fix this for 1.03.

Ah, ok.
Let’s wait for the patch then.
Thanx for the info GeeDee and Boffbowsh.
