Hi there, we have a BF2 server with Multiplay and wish to use thsi new admin program.

It does not require any install to the server and uses remote console.

Download here

http://bf2online.net/component/option,com_remository/Itemid,46/func,selectcat/cat,1/

Is it possible to use this program?

It says you need to stick a default.cfg file in your admin directory with the following 2 lines

port=4711

password=YourPassword

Save the file, and start the server.

This would be much better for us as clanforge can often lag out or not action commands that we send.

Please look into this for us,

:p:

First off, ClanForge should work fine. There aren't any problems with it as far as we know. If you continue to get problems, it might probably be a good idea to drop into #mpukhosting on QuakeNet and see if we can solve any problems you have.

With regard to the program you ask about, I believe there are a few problems with it and we don't support it at the moment on our clanservers.

However, very soon, there will be the release of the MPUK ModManager which will allow you to do everything that the 3rd party admin programs do, and more! Keep a close watch on the ClanForge news page!

ModManager is now in the beta testing stage, and we are hoping to have it out within the next week.

Regardless, ClanForge works fine and so does the ingame RCON. Let us not forget the knightmare that has been v.1.01 and all that in the last few weeks.

I'm afraid that all our clan members get the same during the evening, the web page either times out, or the commands kick or 'say' does not work and returns to the same page and nothing is said on the server. This is only during the evening and is an intermittant problem. I thought it was just me but a forum post on our forums highlighted that this problem was in fact happening for everyone..

Its a very blinkered attitude to say "Regardless, Clanforge works fine" when there is obvious problems with it as people want to use other programs. Why would they want to use them if clanforge is the mutts nutts you say it is?

However, thanks for pointing out that your introducing something else to use instead of clanforge......looking forward to it.

Just so u know, the fact that ClanForge stops functioning is nothing to do with ClanForge itself.

The problem lies with BF2's built in rcon, so it matters not which admin utility you use they will ALL break at the same time.

Yes ModManager has taken longer than expected to be released but that's only due to the number of features that have been added to ensure you guys have the control that you want / deserve.
N.B. This includes fixes to the basic admin to correct the bug mentioned above.

For any admin util which says you need to add / change things in admin directory specificly admin port / password ignore them.
The default rcon had these hard coded but we had that fixed inhouse before we sold our first server. You can find your port under ClanForge -> Servers -> details and your "rcon" password is set in ClanForge -> Profiles -> admin password.

Hope this helps clear a few things up.

The next release of BF2CC will require ModManager. One the default modules that will ship with ModManager is mm_bf2cc
