connection issue!!!!!!!!!!!
since the update of servers and patches, i am having connection issues
problem:
the server list works ok, the connecting/loading to server works ok.
BUT soon i enter servers and the spawn screen appears, i have the message 'there is a problem with your connection'.
after this message i get discconection to server list screen, with message 'connection to server lost'.
THIS IS ONLY HAPPENED SINCE SERVER UPDATES AND PATCHES.
i have got the hotfix 1.02 patch, and the lastest punkbuster update.
i thought it was firewall and router, so i tested it with all firewalls and router firewall/NAT, disabled.
but still have the problem.
as well as all opened ports.
i have installed battlefield 2, 3 times.
my ISP doesn't block any ports (tiscali.co.uk).
no spyware or viruses.
lastest drivers, and updates.
after all this, i still get the disconnections. it happens on all servers including official ones.
what next? please respond.
Regards
Solway
this i sent to ea, but their help is useless.
most of battlefield 2 servers are multiplay.co.uk
this happens on lots,
ive tested packet loss on your, ea official 11 (85.236.101.29:16971)
and no packets are lost, but i still get the problem (above)
i can however connect to urban-tigers multiplay server, without a problem.
anyone help?
does the server need reinstalling?

You wont get much help here, I have also been having connection problems with the "official" servers, all they do is gloat about how many servers they run now and how much cash they are raking in coz of the fact they have cornered the market by being the only people doin ranked servers. Do they care how good there servers are ? I think not I mean where else we gonna go ??? Stick to what you GOOD at LANS ! :)

Well the fact that he can connect to the Urban Tigers server and that he gets perfect traces suggests it's not a problem with the server. There's a few people with this problem, not just with Multiplay servers. We ARE good at Online stuff, we have a very dedicated and enthusiastic team, and we have invested heavily in our infrastructure, always going way beyond what is needed so we have that extra badnwidth/power/whatever "spare". We're good at LANs, we're good at Online stuff.

just to add to Boffs reply.
The ea uk servers are all run off a standard EA approved config, there is no config setting that could affect individuals in the way your suggesting. So i cannot see why the servers would need to be re-installed.
As you have said you get no packet loss to the servers it is also unlickely to be a connection issue as such.
out of interest can you try connecting to EA UK 10.
10 and 11 are both 64 player servers and share the same box, 10 runs on the default port, 11 runs on a different port.
Im just wondering if it has something to do with this.

Have u run a winmtr trace while playing there fallout?
Thats a good place to start.
We are aware there may be an issue with the latest PB update as its failing to update the client version on the server which can often cause PB to kick players, we have raised this with EB but havent had any feeback as yet.
Are you getting any PB kick message? or just a game timeout?
I'm not avail to diagnose issues ATM, if you drop into IRC #mpukhosting on Quakenet one of the guys should be able to help you out. If not I'll be back about 10pm tonight so you could give me a shout then and we'll see what we can find out; if ur not already sorted.

i never have had the Kick message (although i know ppl who have) just get, there is a problem with your connection and then it disconnects me. Don't normally get lag on your servers, but today its really bad.

i wouldnt have thought plugging a microphone in would of had any effect to be honest, Keep us posted though. If you do have any trouble come back here or #mpukhosting /#mpukbf2 .

Trace route it pretty useless tbh use winmtr while you play, as I mentioned, that will show any network issues.

this post, was about
connecting to server, then soon at spawn screen, disconnected.
solved by having a microphone installed. because its a voip server. and my brother removed the mic.
i could connect to other non voip servers, without mic.
so make a new thread, about lag. gone off topic
Thanks for the update must say thats a strange one though :)

I had the the exact same issue about a week ago.
Every server I joined I lost my connection to within a few seconds of joining. I never figured out why, but I could tell it wasnt the server, because they were all full of players happily fragging away.
Im glad you found the answer. I'll remember that next time it happens to me.
