Just wondered what the latest was on having 'Slot Reservation' on Ranked servers?

You announcement on ClanForge said...

Slot reservations (may be restricted on ranked servers).

It souned like you were not sure if EA would allow this or not.

Any update on that?

EA seem to be making a lot of noises about their goal of making it easier for people to get access to ranked servers, i.e. "Our vision is to make sure you never have to wait to get onto a ranked server so you can enjoy the game at its best, and we will work to make that happen. "

Doesn't sound like they would welcome any 'slot reservation' system.

I looks like this will go ahead with a limit on the number of slots u can reserve. EA are currently reviewing the ModManager code and the BF2CC as still testing a number of features appart from that all is looking good.

I've never used slot reservation systems before, so I'm a bit curious as to how it will work.

Say if we've got a 32 slot server, and for arguements sake we are allowed to reserve 16 slots (50%) - do we just nominate 16 chosen GUID's, or can we nominate everyones GUID (32 of them) and have BF2CC/ClanForge work out how many 'reserved slots' are in use - so once 16 of those GUID's are on the server, it wont automatically kick anyone else?

Please say it will be the latter... ;)

I thought it worked as you passworded those reserved slots and only the ones with teh password could use them

I've no idea. I assumed that, if the server was full, it automatically kicked someone if a person with a reserved GUID tried to join. Thus enabling the person with the reserved slot to play, even when the server was full.

Perhaps I'm wrong.

If you read up on it you can reserve slots but they are reserved full time ie you have 32 slots you reserve with the PID id 8 slots you now have a max none passworded slot server of 24/32. Thus we kept it off and just used admin tool to kick last players to join the server and it works fine.
