Finally got the courage to upgrade, woot

I've ordered an Asus A8N Nf4 Deluxe, Winchester 3000+, 200GB Diamondmax+10, and the all important part Gainward 6800 Ultra/2600PCX 256

Hoping my old 1gb (2x512) Crucial PC2100 can run smoothly with the new motherboard, anyone tried using older memory with it? Also going to be running it all with an enermax 350W supply I bought for about £50, 2 years ago which I am uncertain is up to the task.

You probably can run the pc2100 ram in the mobo but it will slow it down TERRIBLY, so i really would up the ram if i were u

Yes. New Ram and a faster chip are on the books.

Looking at some nice fast 3200 Ram. Also considering waiting for an X2 chip, somthing along the lines of a 4400 as I do like to run a few app's at the same time but at the time of writing, I don't have £446.44 for a processor hehe. A 3700 san diago would always be a nice chip but then again, it's still in the £250 mark.

I run everything at 1280x1024 (that I can) and I imagine I can simply bump up the AA and AF to bring it all back in line with the CPU's deficiency's.

You definitely need a new PSU, that 350w will cop out as soon as you start pushing the 6800. Upgrade to a nice 500W+ and you'll have no problems :)

i want gfx card, hdd and prob cpu depending on price, but i have no money till either my credit card arrives or i get paid, which isnt till teh 18th i think
