From BoingBoing (http://www.boingboing.net/2005/07/03/caffeinated_beer_in_.html):

Anheuser-Busch is launching its caffeinated beer in the UK. BE (Beer With Extra) contains 5% alcohol, 60.4mg of caffeine, guarana, and ginseng. In the US, BE is sold as B-to-the-E (BE). My sister-in-law Heather Sparks points out that there's also a caffeinated and taurine-laden malt liquor on sale in the US called Sparks (no relation).

"Each bottle of BE beer contains 5% alcohol and 60.4mg of caffeine, as well as guarana and ginseng and flavouring to give it a sweet, fruity taste."

^^ taken from the BBc article.

Just what this country needs, more alcohol for the young masses. Now kids will have no reservations to go out and buy this drink, as they can claim to their neurotic parents that it will keep them awake like coke does.

I speak in reference to parents who dont provide their kids with any moral guidance and the like. Quite opinionated on that subject as we've had a lot of issues in my area.

I

Since when has "it will keep me up like coke does" been a persuading point in ANY argument? I was never allowed coke because it contains caffeine...

What is it with people and soft drinks anyway? I find almost all of them are so pumped up with sugar that as soon as you finish them, you don't feel refreshed, you are instead left with a large phlegmy deposit at the back of your throat which only makes you wanna grab some water to wash it down.

Stick with water, drive those sugar pimping fascists out of business!

My point exactly. Parents who allow their children to drink coke en-mass might think that this will do the same thing.

Despite costing twice as much no doubt.

My statements may be off-track slightly, I hit my head at work and feel semi-concussed :(

I always find that the alcohol in drinks cancel out the effects of caffine or Turine.

I sleep like a baby when I've been on Vodka and Red-bull. To the extent where I can't drink it now cause I can fall asleep anywhere I sit after drinking it.

Plus I can imagine that Caffine in Beer is going to leave a minging after taste like VodkaWild used to before they stopped selling it.

Well if anybody would like some excitement then I make the generous offer of stroking anybody's leg for a tenner.
