This guide is really for those of you who are still uninitiated to the game, and want to pick it up. Being an abandoned and now open source project, the game is absolutely FREE!
The first thing you need to do if you don't already know is to determine whether you have .NET framework installed. To find out, go to this link (http://asgs.alleg.net/ASGSSvcs/checkup.aspx) (in IE if you are using Firefox, otherwise it will deny any knowledge of .NET framework if you have it or not)
If you DO have .NET framework installed and up to date, all you need to do is download the Allegiance Installer from below
Allegiance Standalone - 52.8Mb

If you DO NOT have .NET framework, you can either download it from your Windows Update (under Windows XP updates) or get it in the Ultimate Pack below
Allegiance with .NET Framework - 87.6Mb

Be sure to read the readmekthx.txt file before installing everything as it needs to be done in a specific order.
All you need to do now is head over to http://asgs.alleg.net/asgsnet/newaccount.aspx to setup your callsign account. When you have done this, go to the Allegiance Online icon and play to your hearts content. Because of add on packs such as AllegiancePlus and DarkNebulae, you will have to auto-update the first time you play in order to get the latest versions of these mods. They include shiney new factions that not even the Allegiance l33tors have gotten to know well yet :p:
A few notes (included in the readmekthx)
-Even if you have .NET framework, it is recommended you check for any updates on it. The latest version is Service Pack 1 with one hotfix.
-Your callsign in game must match your account username in ASGS. This is to prevent cheaters getting away with their devious actions
-Allegiance training will not work when you go to the Online icon and vice versa
-Although you can remap your keys in the training section, they will not take effect until you go to the lobby and will only work for real games
-Keep an eye on your firewalls, as there are about 3 or 4 programs that need to use the net while you are playing (ASGS, SOVLogin, their updaters and Allegiance.exe)
-There is a WORLD of information at both www.alleg.net and www.allegiance-academy.org You will be able to use your Allegiance username and password to access all areas in these sites.
