i don't see if it can compete, unless it offers something different, or cheaper than paypals service.

Google haven't yet done mass financial transactions in the same way as paypal, this is a much bigger step than free email or desktop search

Paypal is used mostly for auctions on ebay, I suspect the google one will be for general transactions

Loads of smaller companies who cannot afford/choose not too bother with VISA or Mastercard directly operate through Paypal (who do all the work for them). Try and buy something from an online independent retailer and you can almost guarentee that they'll offer Paypal these days.

So you're suggesting that auctions are not what the majority of paypal transactions are? I would be VERY surprised if this is the case.

Well i haven't used my paypal account for anything on ebay.. use it alot to buy stuff from online stores and people like MPUK

Don't be a moron, its obvious that paypals main line of business comes through ebay. Why the **** do you think ebay bought them?
