I'm about to upgrade my phone. I was thinking about going with the Sharp 902. I'm thinking that having a 3G phone means that i will be backwards compatible once i get to Japan. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Im pretty sure Japan is a whole new set of standards. When i was over their, the phones carried by 6 yr old school girls were like something out of star trek, very scary, and much shiz on em (one had a dvd player and another had a gps map thingy). Im pretty sure they were very reasonably priced over their too, Japan is great, especially Tokyo.

If your looking for one to use over there longterm, ie more that a 2 week holiday, ide wait till you were over there to buy one incase they have different bandwaves and networks etc.

maybe affordable to you guys as london is the third most expensive city in the world.
the most expensive city in america comes in 15th place when ranked with the rest of the world.

A mate of mine went out to Japan (on the way back from a 3 week holiday in Australia, git!) and bought an mp3 player, digital camcorder and other shiz and said it was a hell of a lot cheaper over there. I guess its got something to do with UK tax or the rate of the ££/$$ to the Yen or whatever it is they have over there. But as a general thing electronic gizmos and gaddgets do tend do be generally a lot cheaper over in Japan.

In japan most electronics is cheaper because theres always somthing new coming out.
Most japanese people throw this old technology out and buy the latest must have thing, e.g. 50" plasma
