So, i downloaded the video from the site linked on this thread.

(Get the extra large one, its very good quality)

I have to admit. I`m impressed.

The motion capture, special effects and overall quality (taking into account its been compress for web) is astounding.

It really smacks of Final Fantasy level of detail in places.

So i was wondering... I know this tech costs have come on a lot since FF:SW, but surely not so far that multi-million dollar effects studios are roped in to doing lower budget computer games.

That said, the game is being backed by Namco, one of the oldest names in the business, so who knows.

( Oh and yes, the woman does have a nice ass :D )

take a look at http://www.projectoffset.com/ done by *three* people who left s2games. it is quite refreshing when you hear big companies moaning that the art side of a game takes an army of artists 5 squillion pounds and 2 years to produce, and you have a game (in progress) that looks like that from a small team

To be fair though, those 3 guys had a head start since they were the creative force behind Savage:Battle for Newerth. They've been beavering away for about a year to get to where they are at the moment, and I an really looking forward to seeing how the game turns out in the end.

While I was typing this, I downloaded the Hellgate video. Like Whiteknight, I'm impressed with the level of detail. I'm a little put out by this sort of FMV though because I prefer to see the game engine itself used to generate FMV's. If companies use movie studios to create their marketing and merchandising, doesn't it give a misleading impression of the game itself? The premise seems kind of "Doom 3 in London" with a bit of Knights Templar. Sounds good IMO. :)
