First off, dont flame me :) its a reasonable question :)

Just wanting to know if maby next year (or even the year after!) (an entire 6/18months +) people could talk to people, and get all the events on diffrent weekends :D

This would be class, as all the events could be attended (as opposed to having to choose between great lans which both have there great points)

thanks, im sure loads of people would find this ace :)

Trying to not make this a flame but here goes:

CLUK's stand on this, is that we will not clash with any Multiplay Event, as that would be lan suicide. So that rules out about 8 weekends in the year.

Then of course, theres the christmas break. December and January are out. Theres another 8 weekends.

Gives us 36 weekends to play with. Most of us want to aim at about 4 events with a nice even spread throughout the year. So we start looking at the calendar, which brings us back to the MPUK events, the week before and after an i-series is also out, there go another 8 weekends. Down to 28.

So we've picked out dates, now we phone our venues with out fingers crossed that they have the dates. We're booking cluks around 6 months in advance already and CLUK9 was our third choice of date!

Whilst looking, admittedly we try to take FBL into consideration, as we find them to be quite willing to discuss dates with us while planning. But if we have to clash, then we have to. There is enough of a geographical gap between all of these lans for them to survive with some clashes. Especially as each lan has their own particular following.

Yeah, you can't really pick and choose dates, it's mostly in the hands of the venue. However I will say right now that the 3rd weekend in July next year will feature Hot Lakes Action, anyone booking this date will be ended :)

We always collaberate with CLUK, not only on dates but with Systems as well, we enjoy a great relationship with each other. And of course we avoid Multiplay events. If we took into account any more, we'd only have like 1 event a year. There's enough of a difference in the target market of DreamLAN and FBL for that not to be a problem, and to be completely honest, I personally tend not to see the dates for LlamaLAN, maybe they post their dates late or something? Not sure. Anyway, we posted our next event 3 months in advance, and was sold out within 3 days. Apologies to any other LANs or social gatherings if you feel we stole your attendees or weekend. But the LAN calender is way too tight to be that picky about dates

As for westlan, we tend not to have too many people wanting to go to both. But we do have dates until march 2006 up on the website. (We need to book halls WELL in advance to get them) http://www.westlan.co.uk/events.asp

There are only 52 weekends in a year, there are alot more than 52 LANs a year. Therefore, the answer is no ;)

I wouldn't go to a lan every weekend anyway... far too crippling on the wallet :/

As with CLUK, LlamaLAN make a sincere effort not to clash with any i-series or StratLANs on the basis that the Management (i.e. me) like to attend and do many LL regulars, we also make an effort not to clash with any LANs in Kent and SE London purely because it would be rude so we avoid weekends clashing with X-LANs and GG/HGLANS where possible.

The problem is that there are only 52 weeks a year, and people need their LAN fixes on a regular basis. LlamaLAN only run two events a year, roughly 6 months apart and advertise as far in advance as we can get confirmation of dates, we check the dates against the LAN registers available at the time, but we never know what will happen after we publish the dates.

No-one in the community deliberately tries to steal another LANs thunder but sometimes it is inevitable.

FAO: BoffBowsh ... LL6 was announced on the 26th April, 6 months before the October event, we do try to give people as much warning as is possible, the next LL, by the way, is likely to be either in the February half term of 2006 (11/12 Feb, 18/19 Feb) or the holiday between Spring and Summer terms (1/2 Apr, 8/9 Apr, 15/16 Apr) but it cannot be finalised until MPUK publish the dates for next year ... slackers ;) :p

The only clash of lans I want to go to so far has been the Llamalan and CLUK clash in october this year, still undecided about that :/

I agree, it's hard enough to make sure they don't clash with other lans in the geographical area or an mpuk lan etc but will fit in with the venue, and much as the idea of all clubbing together and saying "well, you can have this weekend, and we'll have this weekend" etc would be great in an ideal world, it's just not going to work :/
