you can choose todelve straight into pvp without even doing the story, but you will be penalised on the skills that you can use.

Heh, ok breaks down like this.

When you create a new character you can create either a pvp or rpg character.

If you select PvP character you can pick a premade build or design a custom character. This custom build will only be able to use skills and items that you have unlocked with an rpg character. It will start lv20 and ONLY be available for pvp matches.

Or create an RPG character and play the PvE game through as a normal RPG. Then you can unlock items, skills, runes etc as you play. These characters can take part in a PvP at any stage, as they are currently.

The way PvP works has been changed slightly so that there are only 3 arenas to choose from in RPG mode. There is the Team Arena for team based ctf etc style play, the normal arena for fast 4v4 deathmatch etc, and then the hall of heros (tomb of primeval kings) Its basically winner stays on. But the map will change each round, hence there only now being 1 arena of each type on the map.

The hall of heros is responsible for the favour of the gods. Youve probably seen the green messages in game. When you win i think 4 in a row, might be dependant on the amount of favour the other servers have (europe, korea and usa). Then your server gains the favour of the gods and all the god statues will start to glow around tyria, you can then /kneel at them to speak to the avatar who will grant boons like morale boost for 50gp etc.

If you have favour you can go to the Temple of Ages and make an 8man party and then talk to either Grenth god of death or Balthazar god of war to travel, for 1p, to either the underworld or the fissue of woe respectivly, these are uber hard ish areas with the best drops and such.

So all in all, lots of options for pvp really. I would recommend being lv20 at least, as most people who pvp will be this level with advanced characters. Guild Wars has a strange PvE and PvP culture, not many people seem to do both, its a bit either or. So you may well run into seasoned pro pvp players. :)

I'm level 15 and 1/2 right now. Can't wait to ascend so i can see how i fair in PVP.

I've played in the Shiverpeak Arena and faired quite well, but i imagine it's quite different playing with the seasoned pros.

you can actually go to the underworld anytime as long as you have unlocked the temple of ages which isn't that far into the game (near the wilds). However if your not level 20 then you may struggle a bit.

Also theres actually a bit more of the game after ascension than i thought there was. I ascended a few days ago and i'm still going. Only annoying thing is the monsters levels get higher... but yours don't :( however you get more and better skills :D and access to elite skills :D *praises healing hands*

You CANNOT reach the Underworld or the Fissure of Woe unless your server has favour !

The statues will glow, feel free to go to the temple of ages when we do not have favour and /kneel to your hearts content :)

okay i meant you can go anytime you want.. when its in favour (which is rare)

but because i was making the post while doing some mission i hurried it a bit :p same for this one actually, ring of fire mission.. mmmm fun
