This has got to be seen to be believed. Totally created in Valve's Source engineed game HalfLife 2 the music video "Still Seeing Breen".<br>

I'm downloading it right now, but if it what I think it is, then it is machinima. That's using CG animation to create a movie-like effect.
For more examples of this sort of thing, take a look at MTV2 Video Mods... right here (http://www.mtv2.com/#series/13696) (Flash Player 7 req'd)

Is actually just a load of videos from HL2 strung together, possibly created using Gary's Mod (or that other physics playground, whatever its called) and a lot of work in Hammer

Do you understand what machinima is? It's a story (or in this case, a music video) created using a game engine... nothing more, and that still doesn't change the fact thatit is still a bunch of scripted sequences from HL2 strung together and viewed from different angles...

its like calling the Anachronox Machinima released a few years ago 'new' when it was just a recording of someone playing the game...

maybe im just bitter at HL2 still...

Well said Say_Ten.
When you look at something like this music video, and look at something like 'Robots' or 'The Incredibles', the basic concept is exactly the same. They use model meshes being animated in a virtual 3D environment. The difference is the equipment and rendering software.
This music video used Source on a desktop PC system.
'The Incredibles' used RenderMan on a Xeon cluster with 1024 CPUs, 2TB RAM and 60TB HDD space [info from Intel (http://www.intel.com/pressroom/archive/releases/20030210comp_a.htm)]

machinima.org defines machinima as: Machinima (muh-sheen-eh-mah) is filmmaking within a real-time, 3D virtual environment. The difference with machinima over big-budget films is that machinima is rendered in realtime.
