Adobe is set to buy Macromedia in a massive deal costing $3.4bn (£1.8bn)! Macromedia (creators of programs such as Flash and Dreamweaver) saw a massive 10% increase in their shares at hearing the news. Adobe's current plans are to integrate the 2 companies software in a more business driven approach. <br><br>

since there are hardly any 'real competitors' to either Macromedia or Adobe products (they were essentially fighting with each other), it means that prices will do nothing but rise because there is no credible competition...
I just hope Microsoft plough on with this ill-fated image editing software they are meant to be producing, if only to add some lame-but-better-placed competition to this new gestalt behemoth...
