View Full Version : MPUK Staff Member Running Marathon For Charity

Remember the likes of Decathlon and International Track & Field - the games where you made someone on a screen run by waggling a joystick/bashing your joypad, leaving you with a pile of broken controllers in the corner?

Well apparently, as crazy as this sounds, some people prefer to run in real life instead. That's right - with the shoes and the shorts and the lactic acid and the outside and everything! Madness you say? Well allow me to elaborate.

Devvy, the brave soul who heads up the tournaments at our popular i-series LANs, is running in this weekends London Marathon. He will be putting himself through 26 miles and 350 yards of sweat, sweat and ... well more sweat really in order to raise money for Asthma UK.

He's looking for sponsors so that he can raise as much money as possible for this good cause, you can find out information on how to do so by clicking here.

Frankly charity was the only plausible reason I could think of for anyone wanting to do this, apart from perhaps losing a bet or something. Either way the Multiplay UK community wishes Devvy all the best for this and we hope he raises as much money as possible.

Keep an eye on the forum thread for updates.

You need to let me know your full name and amount sponsored for me to write down.

If you are a UK Taxpayer, and don't mind also giving me your address & post code, Asthma UK will be able to claim the tax back on your donation = more £££ from the government.

To pay the money, you can either do it in person by cash the next event I see you, or you can paypal it to drew@rebooted.net.

Thanks!

*giggle* at Tom's picture yet again.

Many thanks to all who have donated so far....we've raised around £600-£700 for Asthma UK.

Not entirely sure as 1/2 the donation slips are in my draws at work for pestering people there.

Wish me luck on Sunday! :)

Many thanks to all who have donated so far. We've just broken the £1000 barrier.

Thanks again to all, and keep the donations coming in. All proceeds are going to Asthma UK, and not to the barman in the Red Lion half way round! :)

How did you get on?

Cheers for all the sponsorship guys and gals.

Mission completed, made it all the way round the 26.2 mile course and got the medal & t-shirt to prove it :)

Took me 6:30 to complete it (including a 15min toilet break - long queue - that I doubt Paula would of appreciated!), which equates to approx 15 minutes a mile on average.

Had to work this morning....despite legs aching, and my feet being covered in blisters. Ah well.....made for some office humour watching me traverse the office.

To all those who now owe me money (yey), you can pay by:

a) Giving me cash at a lan (I'm at Stratlan in less then 2 weeks time now)

b) Direct bank transfer (email me if you want details)

c) Paypal (not ideal, as they'll take a bit for their charge, but if needs must)

Cheers for everything peeps :)
